  • Thank goodness for buffalo wings...

Well, today was my first induction test with friends over for pizza night with the kids. I caught Kent's chicken wings recipe on Youtube last night and made them today (except I baked them at 425 for an hour - no deep frier). They came out exactly like Domino's chicken wings. I also made homemade bleu cheese dressing - bleu cheese in mayo.

While everyone else was scarfing down the pizza, I was content with my chicken wings and shrimp cocktail (i.e. shrimp dipped in the bleu cheese dressing). Aside from the good low-carb meal, what I liked the most was the fact that I didn't draw any attention to myself with this WOE. No one even noticed I wasn't eating pizza. It was so refreshing to eat acceptable foods and not have people (a) notice; (b) complain that you're not eating like them or (c) ridiculing your choices. Not that my wife or friends would ever give me a hard time for trying to lose weight - I just don't like talking about it with others very much.

Re: Thank goodness for buffalo wings...

I know exactly what you mean!!! I especially dislike discussing it while I am eating my legal foods!! I was eating tuna at work one day when a skinny stick figure (who has just spit out 2 babies, one right after the other) walked in and demanded to know when I was finally going to get sick and tired of "eating like that." I couldn't utter a word out of my mouth that was going through my head!! Um, perhaps in my next life when I'm born into a stick figure persons body that hard partying and multiple pregnancies won't affect. Maybe then, I shall eat like you "normal" people!!

I'm glad you found a recipe you love! It sounds delicious! Great job planning ahead for that!

Hey Slap -- good for you...first of all it's no one else's business what you eat but I digress......I do that a lot. Congratulations on planning ahead and creating legal food you can eat when with other people. I made it through SuperBowl and was so proud of myself! I couldn't believe how many party foods were Atkins legal!!!!! Keep up the great work!!

I just made some hot wings tonight for hubby and I. What a treat! We had them with a little bit of celery and a dollop of blue cheese dressing. I also baked mine instead of fried and then put them under the broiler to get the crispy effect! Yummy! Atkins is great I'm so excited ;-)

Thanks everyone! It was a surprisingly simple and good recipe. Locarbbelle - I forgot to mention, too, that I finished them under the broiler. Made them just right!

Oh I am craving those right now!! I love them, and one of the things I love about this WOE is that I can eat them!! Take that Weight Watchers

I was at a party last night and everyone was eating pizza and drinking beer and wine....I had my Mike's Light Lemonade (1g carb) and ate salad. I didn't miss the pizza, but I made sure I didn't sit near it. No one asked, but they have all noticed I'm looking a little slimmer, so maybe that's why

Wings are one of my favorite things I can eat on Atkins. I could never eat them with any other WOE. We love Wings To Go wings as well. IF you like em hot, the suicide sauce doesnt' have any carbs in it or maybe its one. I can't remember but they are not breaded and totally delicious!!! We get them once a week. Yummy.
I will stay on my diet. I will get healthy and lose weight. There is nothing I could eat or drink that tastes as good as how I feel at this moment on this WOE ~ nothing!
