  • A few questions..

So, I am on my fifth day of induction. I crashed HARD on the second day and haven't been able to eat since. I've choked down a few deviled eggs, but really when I think about eating I get nauseated. I'm not sick. I don't have a cold or flu. I have times during the day where I feel totally healthy, but I can't eat. I have never had an eating disorder, I love food.. I just can't stomach anything.
When I think about foods that I might be able to keep down (yogurt, berries, soup) I remember that I can't have them for months if ever again. It seems a little ridiculous and extremely frustrating to me. Right now I'm surviving on vitamins and water.
I know that if I keep not eating my body will go into lock down mode and the weight will stop coming off, but seriously, when I think about baking cream cheese or frying an egg, I get physically sick.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Instead of going for cream cheese or eggs, try eating a salad. It is "fresher" and less heavy on your stomach. A reduction in appetite is normal during Induction. Experiment with new recipes and try to find something you would like to have.

Yeah, salads are on the list of things that make me want to hurl. Which is totally sad because ordinarily, I LOVE salads. I don't know. Thanks for trying. I'm going to try to stick it out for a few more days and see if this is just a serious case of induction flu.

Post your menu in the Review My Menu forum. Sometimes, folks eat too few carbs. Remember you eat less than 20 net carbs daily: you don't eat as close to zero carbs as possible.

          Re: A few questions..

I just finished the two week induction. Day 5 was weird, I had an unquenchable thirst and the bottled water tasted like metal. The next day was better. I would guess what you're experiencing will pass by tomorrow.

Thank you guys for your help! Whatever the problem was seems to be clearing up now. About an hour ago I stared to get an appetite again. I'm already thinking about what to make for dinner and not nauseated at all.

Where did you get the idea that you could never have yogurt, berries and soup again? Read the book and get informed, otherwise you are going to continue to be uninformed.

Induction is only a two week period and then you are free to move on to OWL where you gradually add things like berries and yogurt. And personally, I make a lot of soups ... induction friendly, even!

                Re: A few questions..

When I said that, it was a short list of a rather long one of foods I was missing. Maybe not the best examples of what I can't have again, but those sprung to mind because I have been feeling like garbage and craving those things. And when I say soup, I mean with potatoes and noodles and other insanely starchy things that you have to work up to over long periods of time, if ever. I have read the book. Repeatedly, thank you. I did this diet once before and kept the weight off for years. I ballooned up again recently because I started traveling a lot and eating burger king all the time, so I decided to go back on it. Perhaps I am a bit rusty, and I didn't crash so hard last time, but uninformed I am not.
