  • Tip for newbies starting Atkins

Read the book. You really need to understand how Atkins works so that you don't make common mistakes.

I have often come across people thinking they are doing atkins or thinking that they are doing some kind of modified atkins by having just a few fries, or eating only part of a bagle.

The hard part of this thing is that when it says absolutely NO bread, milk, etc. it means it.

A little cheat is really a huge cheat, because once you go above the 20 g of carbs you usually will not be in ketosis and that means that you will not be burning fat.

Read the book to make sure you are eating only the induction approved foods.

      That's not true, however.

      And thank goodness for that!

ETA: but on induction, yes, definitely you want to remain under 20 grams per day of net carbs.

Great reminder snorkelman. Especially while your in this first two weeks, you will never go wrong by doing the cleanest, most perfect induction. Its when your in extended induction or OWL that you try new things and see how they affect your weight loss.

yep, that's why i posted this in the induction section. of course you can have more carbs after that, but I think the hardest part for newbies to learn is that just because something at a restaurant says low-carb or because they see an Atins product at the store, does NOT mean that they can have it during induction.
