  • New to Here AND New to Atkins

Hi all. Just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. I'm 34 years old, had a baby 3 months ago and need to lose some serious weight.

I am 5'7 and weighed in at 263.2 lbs. I've never done Atkins before and to be 100% honest, I'm terrified of it. It's never made sense to me and I'm desperately afraid of gaining 10 lbs.

Today is only day 2. I gained 80 lbs. while pregnant so this is quite a shock for me. :yikes I worked really hard to get down to 215 before I got pregnant so being 263 now is depressing.

Since today IS only day 2, I'm just really hoping for some great success and support!

First I am glad you are and that you have decided to Atkins. I have no idea about baby weight (being a guy makes us even more clueless about that stuff), but I do know this WOE works. Take the opportunity to read the book as soon as possible, and just commit yourself to making sure the next thing that enters your mouth is off the Acceptable Foods List. If you keep making that pledge and living up to it, you will be one successful Atkineer. It really will work, and if you get discouraged, stop by the success stories forum on this board, and you can see a bunch of very successful losers most of whome had the worries on day 2 as you do now. I know I certainly did.

Welcome to the board, and I hope to see more posts from you as your success story develops.

          Hi and welcome.

You didn't mention if you were breastfeeding, but if you are the weight loss phases aren't appropriate for you. You can, however, do the maintenance phase of Atkins.

            Hello and welcome to ADBB!

Megs is right-- if you're breastfeeding, you you don't want to pass ketones into your breastmilk!

Welcome to ADBB! You'll have to run around the shower just to get wet in no time!
