  • Oh my god! Major stomach cramps!

    hi everyone

ok i'm on day 6 of induction.everythings been going pretty good, and really finding it easy since day 3.
HOWEVER this morning after having some egg whites i tried to have a nap, seeing i was awake all night.and about an hour into my sleep i was woken up by REALLY BAD stomach pains.like having bad period pains,BUT WORSE. i drank some water, and then some painkillers, but the pain wouldnt go.
I then i went to the loo,and did the wierdest poop.and alot of it.still whilst having the stomach pains.

so anyway this happened twice within the hour.and then i felt fine, well a bit worn out lol.but no more pain or any symptoms.i have since then eaten a couple of normal meals, and still everything seems fine.

SO WHAT THE **** HAPPENED? could it have been a bit of food poisoning from maybe not reheating chicken enough? or could it be something to do with the diet? i must add that i doubt it was food poisoning, because i dunno,it just wasnt the same as food poisoning.

    thanx guys

I'm not sure what happened, but I'm glad you're feeling better.
Were you constipated? If so, you should take psyllium husks, flax seeds (meal) or wheat bran, with a lot of water. If these don't work, a stool softener should solve the problem.

One question. You said egg whites... Make sure you keep your fat intake high -- Atkins is a high fat diet. Besides, most of the nutrients in eggs are in the yolks.

        thanx guys

well i hav been drinking lots of water.and about 2 or 3 glasses at every meal.but i must admite my mouth seems to be always thirsty.so maybe i was dehydrated.if thats the case then i've definately learned something,i never knew dehydration could do that.

as for the eggs, i do sometimes eat the yolks, but they make me feel a bit sicky when i have too many. do we have to eat such a high amount of fat daily? if so, why? can we not just eat lean meats and under 20g carbs, without having all the fat?

        thanx again guys

Have you had any sugar-free sweets (including low carb bars) with sugar alcohols? That is the exact reaction you would have.

Yes, you have to have the high fat. Too much protein will be turned into glucose and stored as fat. Lean protein should be only eaten with added fats from butter, olive oil, coconut oil or mayo. You get in ketosis by the ratio of fat to carbs.
People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.

Also I love Aloe Juice. It always helps me when I have any issues. I recommend everyone to have a gallon around. It just fully regulates my stomache.

Re: Oh my god! Major stomach cramps!

When I first started from the 3rd to the 6th day I "ran" to the bathroom every morning praying I'd make it....I would have 1 slight pain and that would be it. I had diarreah 2 and 3 times a day until the 6th day -- then I never had any trouble again. I figured it was my body regulating to the diet. I didn't have any sugar alcohols, I wasn't constipated, it was just the way my body reacted.

2 weeks ago I did a re-induction and the 1st day I had the same reaction - but since then nothing. Hope it's just a one time thing for you!

i havnt been to the loo though since that day... but its not like i'm constipated because i dont need to go to the loo.my belly is soooo flat, and i feel great.so i'm not worried about it.

but out of curiosity, why have i not needed to poo?? where has the food gone?? cuz like i said before,my belly is very flat.

                    Maybe a case of
Less carbage in, less garbage out

Your body is using the nutrition from the food you eat instead of a large amount of it passing through!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
