  • Eating Out A Lot???

I have to eat out about 75% of the time. Between fast food and restaurant food, I'm planning on doing okay with the induction by sticking to the basics - chicken, beef, salads, etc.

So I'm freaking out now thinking maybe I shouldn't be doing the induction while I have to eat out so much (travel, etc.).

    Thouhts? :confused

I love eating out! And not just because I HATE cooking lol. You will find most everyplace you go to will have something you can eat. Depending on where you go, you can have a steak with a small salad and substitute the baked potato with sauteed mushrooms.

Seafood joints are just a gift from god in my opinion.

Fast food is easy too. I like ordering 2 plain bacon cheeseburgers plain no bun. You can have it with lettuce too as a protein wrap and even with a slice or two of tomato.

Also, in case you simply can't find something on the menu that doesn't agree with atkins, mexican restarants are notorious for this, take some food with you. Pack up some hard boiled eggs or pepperoni slices and then when you can make yourself a chicken breast with broccoli and melted cheese on the side.

    Hope this helps!

You can do induction and eat out, but like you said stick to your basics....I actually found it easier b/c I didn't have to prepare it myself and wouldn't be tempted to throw a slice of bread in the oven with a salad. You will do fine just make the right choices :nod

Absolutely you can! I travel for work too, and eat out almost every day for either lunch or dinner. Induction is easy to do if you pick the right places. Fast food joints I try to stay away from on principle, plus it just doesn't seem enough once they strip everything off it.

Salads, steak, burgers, chicken, VEGETABLES....all good!

You've gotten great advice from everyone.

Just be really "smart" when you eat out. Stick to the basics. Ask for no sauce or sauces on the side. Be sure to tell the waiters that you cannot have sugar/flour/starches in any of your food.

Be wary of the "Atkins approved" foods. I've seen the portion sizes on some of them and they aren't within the Induction amounts.
