  • Diet Coke?

I am just wondering if diet coke is allowed in addition to the 64oz of water on induction. I am planning on starting tomorrow and I just want to make sure that I have my facts straight. Anyone have hindered weight loss results because of the diet pop. I am thinking about giving it up anyways but we will see thanks

    Re: Diet Coke?

You may not like the honest answer. Don't do it. It's not worth it. Yes, it stalls me. I might have a very small amount now and then if I'm in a pinch but in no way would I recommend you do that during induction. The good news is, if you break the habit in induction, you're done for good most likely. I've had it when I was at my mom's house and forgot to take my water. She was having her well worked on at the time and I was NOT going to drink her water!! I got one yesterday at work when there was a bridal shower going on. I thought it was the best alternative in the room. Cookies, cakes, pies, all sorts of yummies. I didn't have much but felt like I was being "bad" and didn't have to confirm it with carbs! LOL! It's also full of sodium. You know what that does! I had great results during induction. Don't do it! You'll regret it and it's not worth it!! You're going to be so thirsty!! Take advantage of that and drink at least 100 ounces of water every day. It'll flush out your system quick and begin flushing out the fat too!! Good luck...and welcome to .

hey thanks so much everlosing! i really appreciate the advice. i think your right and it is probably going to be best for me just to kick the habit right off the bat or at least give it a whirl for the first 2 weeks. thanks again.

Not that everlosing didn't give you FABULOUS information, but I just wanted to say, from my own experience - I actually gave up all pop about 2 years ago and it's great!
I used to be a diet dr. pepper addict and thought it was "good" for me because it's "diet" and now I'm paying the price with periodontal disease (basically gingivitis) that I've had a lot of expensive mouth work done because of.
Now, it's probably not 100% the pop's fault - but I always tell myself it absolutely contributed!!
...but really any and all soda pop in general just isn't.
One thing I do (when i feel like giving something up) is to do a good google search.
Here's a good article on webmd on how diet pop actually makes one GAIN weight.
          Drink Diet pop, gain weight

but in all reality - if there's one habit people can give up - it's drinking soda pop.
btw, welcome to the board and good luck with this woe!!!!

            Re: Diet Coke?

I have had 2 half cans of Diet Rite since I started the plan 3 months ago...one of them was yesterday and I can't get my rings off today plus my hands are so tight and sore. I drink Diet Rite (no sodium, no caffine, suposidly no anything) but there has to be something in it that bothers me because I feel miserable - and all because of a half a can. I agree with Everlosing....it's not worth it. I had 3 cans left from a 12 pack I bought at Christmas - I poured them out this afternoon - I'm done with it for good this time.

I also had peridontal disease which led to me losing all my teeth (and I was way too young to loose them)...mine was a combination of all the pop I drank (6-8 a day) and smoking...anyway I am not happy that I could have prevented the disease but kept drinking and smoking away. I put thousands of dollars of money into my mouth between surgeries, all different types of treatments and still lost my teeth!

I wish you much luck on your journey! Stick to the rules, eat only what's on the acceptable food list and you'll go far!
