48 hours down with no cheats and feeling good! Heres a list of what Ive been eating. I got to add a little water and MORE veggies, but ive never felt better about myself. I can tell its working cause i have the bad taste in my mouth and urinating every couple hours!

    Day 1-
    Liter of Water
20 oz Diet Mtn Dew- Yah I know not great, but I find that its nice to be able to keep something that I enjoy. At least its induction friendy

    1 Egg
    5 Strips of Bacon
    2 quarter size sausage patties
    Glass of Water

4 Celery Stalks with some cream cheese
A couple slices of cheddar cheese (no more then 5 ounces)

6 Chicken Drumsticks marinated with the buffalo seasoning recipe found on here.
    30 oz of Water
1 8oz Diet Coke (the little can, figure its perfect, still getting something normal but on a downgraded size)

    3 more of the drumsticks.

    Day 2
    5 strips of bacon
1 Sweet Grilling Sausage (no carbs, double checked, the sweet threw me off)
2oz Velveeta (little more carbs then other cheeses since its manufactored so I cut down on the amount)
    Glass of Water

1 Chicken drumsticks (ahhh they are almost gone. need to make some more)

    3 Eggs
    4 strips of bacon
    1 oz cheddar cheese
2 8 oz Diet Cokes (spaced betwwen 4 hours)
    1 Liter of Water

I would strongly encourage you to cut out the soft drinks--especially during induction. You will lose the most weight during induction and there's no sense in decreasing your potential loss. One of the warnings about drinking anything other than water is because doing that does have the potential to negatively impact the amount of water you're drinking and that is happening to you. But it's not just the decrease in the water you're drinking. Both of those things are full of ingredients that aren't induction friendly. I bought a bottle of diet mtn dew early on and read the ingredients. It's full of crap. The amount of acids in it alone....and not to mention aspartame. NOT worth it. I gave it to someone else in the break room. It will mess you up. I know it's hard in the beginning to give up your favorites and what you view as "normal". BUT, I promise you, it's worth it! Your results will reflect your sacrifice and your body won't stall because of mixed messages it's getting from what you're putting in it. I bought a PUR water filter in a pitcher. I fill it many times per day. Love my water now. Also remember your kidneys NEED enough water to flush them. Plus, it really helps amp up the losses during all phases of Atkins! At least 8 glasses per day but I've always lost more when drinking at least 100 ounces.

Re: 48 Hours down and feeling good.

cut the diet drinks! if you absolutely just won't, try to switch to diet rite, it uses splenda, but make sure you stay within your 3 packets of splenda that are allowed on induction.

cut the processed meat and cheese. velveeta? imagine what that looks like then imagine it in your arteries. what is that stuff anyway? you should only be having 2-3 ounces of cheese a day. cheese is a well known staller for a lot of people, plus if all you're eating is meat and cheese, you're going to be so constipated you might wish you were dead! aah!

if you're going to eat bacon make sure it has no sugar and no bad nitrates and fillers. sausage is processed and can stall you, who knows what they fill that stuff with.

where are the veggies? 4 stalks of celery in 2 days? lots more! three cups a day! 2-3 from the salad list, and 1 from the other list as long as the salad list is 2. veggies are super important. you need the fiber! you need the good carbs! i can pretty much promise just by looking at your menu your carbs are nowhere where they need to be. having too few carbs can actually slow you down, it isn't a less is more kind of thing. not to mention its -very- bad for you! a few people who've heard atkins is all eggs meat and cheese, have done just that, and you can injure your kidneys if thats all you're doing. specially if your water is low.

listen to everlosing, she speaks the truth! 64oz a day, plus 8oz for every 10lbs you need to lose i believe is the rule.

it seems like your protein is probably too high in relation to your fats. 6 drumsticks in 1 sitting with no veggies isn't terribly healthy. fats should be 65, protein 30 and carbs 5.

so here's my advice for you!
first congrats on going 2 days with no sugar! the first few are always the hardest but it does get better!
      1. check out fitday.com, enter in your foods there and it really helps with your percents until you're comfortable enough to eyeball it and get them where they need to be. you can use it to track your weight and measurements also. its great to see those charts going down and its something tangible to see how far you've come.

      2. be sure to read all the stickies around here, especially in the 14day induction that stress water and veggies. its easier to have 3 cups a day when you understand the importance. finding ways to cook them down so you're getting all you need with less volume is also beneficial for people who may not like veggies.

      3. keep doing what you're doing and recording what you eat! its a great habit, i do it in my journal chat every day! that way when you stall you can go back and see 'oops ive been having too much cheese' or whatever, and its less of a guessing game.

      4.water water water

      5. just do a mental check every time you eat for fat, protein, and veggies. if you dont have one, have a snack later with what you're missing. i sometimes dont feel like 2 salads a day, so for a snack i'll eat 1 cup of raw jicama, and theres my second cup of veggies!

Great that you are feeling good.
I think you got off to a pretty good start there. As you say there are a few things to improve upon - but you're working on them right?
        As has been said -
*work in some veggies into your diet. It is time to get acquainted with vegetables and make them part of what you eat daily. You are supposed to have 3 cups of veggies every day
        * read the ingredient list of your food not just the nutrition list. They may have added sugar or sweet stuff to that sausage but the portion size may be to small for a carb to show up. So always check the ingredient list
        * Velveeta is a cheese not allowed. So try for one you can eat in stead.
        * Water is super important. Arm yourself with water bottles and always have one in sight.
        * You will probably be in ketosis soon so keep it up.

Alright so looks like I may have cheated... Damn. Anyways though I feel better then I ever have even after just 72 hours. Im eating way different then I ever have before, so that is going to help a ton even if I had small cheats along the way. ADVICE recieived. And had a big salad for dinner!

Looks like I need more water then Im doing so im gonna up that now to! Thanks for the help everyone. I have a substantial amount of weight to lose (im not even sure what I weigh and honestly dont care, its more about how I look and eventually be able to weigh myself on a regular scale. I know im 350+ probably closer to 400. My overall goal is to get down to 250. I would be estatic.

Re: 48 Hours down and feeling good.

Hey there- You will probably lose weight eating what you are, but induction is meant to take your body quickly into a fat burning (instead of sugar burning) mode- fast! You slow that process down when you eat velveeta instead of cheddar cheese, or drink diet pop instead of water or herbal tea (I drink decaf green tea- cammomile works too if you need a flavored drink).

I have gone from 358 to 286 in about 4 months. I lost a bunch on induction (I think 22), but mine was by the book. I would encourage you to read DANDR. You will be where you want sooner than you think.

If you havent had the "atkins flu", I would suggest it's because of the diet pop. My body for sure confuses diet drinks and sweets (im on owl rung 9) and I do allow myself some diet pop and sugar free jello in small amounts. But I do not lose as much as if I skip it outright.

            Good luck to you!

OWL means Ongoing Weight Loss. Is the second phase of Atkins.

Here's the book on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/AS...insdietmailin/
