  • Carbs in Eggs?!

    Hey all,

I went and bought the Dr Atkins New Carbohydrate Counter book yesterday (unfortunately the UK version, how do I measure veges in tablespoons?!) and under eggs it shows:

    Fried Egg (1)
    0.6g Carbs, 0g Fibre, 0.6g Net Carbs, 6.2g Protein, 6.9g Fat
    Poached/Boiled Egg (1)
    0.6g Carbs, 0g Fibre, 0.6g Net Carbs, 6.3g Protein, 5.3g Fat

I also see the Atkins website has a similar carb count.

But the book & the induction guide from the website both indicate there are zero carbs in eggs. I have not been counting eggs as carbs and am eating 4 a day. What is the story behind carbs in eggs? Help!

Eggs have carbs. That's why you are strictly allowed 3 cups of veggies, which have nowhere near 20 grams of carbs. That leaves room for eggs, cheese, cream, organ meats, shellfish and
Splenda, all of which contain carbs, without going over the 20 grams.
People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.

There are carbs in eggs yes. A little bit under one for a large one. 0.6 looks about right.

          Boxes lie.

If the numbers work out to less than 0.5 the manufacturer can call it zero
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
