  • Chocolate Cake Question

Okay so here I am at work, working on day 3 of the induction and someone brings in this luscious, decadent chocolate cake. Not just chocolate cake and frosting, but chocolate frosting with cake AND chocolate mousse...just to die for.

Okay, so I am not necessarily craving it, which is good. But I keep thinking about it. Just habit because I love chocolate? Thoughts?

Wow not craving it is a good thing

Yeah you are going to think about it. It is a habit. I quit smoking a month and a half ago, and I still think about smoking, especially around smoking people, but I also think that I am strong enough not to smoke.

Sooooo chocolate is pretty weak, it can't fight back, so I don't think it would be very nice for you to attack chocolate. Think of it as a beautiful, brand new car. Lovely to look at, but out of your range.

    You are doing good though

    Keep up the good work

You are doing Fantastic not to be craving that CHOCOLATE CAKE :joy People eat doughnuts, and cake right in front of me all the time @ work, and the drug reps always brings goodies to us in the office :geek But that is the problem why I am here now!!!

Good Going!!! Nice to look at, but don't touch!

During the first few months on Induction I had an almost endless video loop of treats that played in my head! I didn't want to eat any of it, but I couldn't stop thinking about it! Drove me nuts, but finally I guess my brain gave up on that...lol

It's a mourning period we go through when it comes to losing our treats and we all deal with it differently.

Right now I'm on the graveyard shift (may be changing soon...and after 5 years, going back to days will be scary!) so junk food consumption is mainly driven by those who bring change to use the vending machine. We don't have Supervisors or Sr. Techs bringing in doughnuts or other goodies.

So I leave my change at home...and when I switch desks with the Sr. Tech who's leaving, I have no craving for the box of chocolates she generally snacks on at work...instead, I wonder how she can eat that much sugar at once!

And I was a person who could polish off a whole bag of Hershey Bites in one sitting. Ew...I love chocolate, but I'm learning that it's a very deadly weapon...

            Hi Sassy, :wave

Let me just toss your question back to you with a slight twist.

An alcoholic with three days of sobriety under her belt is finally on her way to recovery.

At her office, there's a small party and one of her coworkers brings in a bottle of very expensive, very wonderful scotch..it's her favorite brand and she's dying for a glass - what should she do?

Getting past your sugar and carb addiction begins and ends with saying no.

Just tell yourself that being skinny is so much more worth it than one slice of cake. In a few months, folks in the office will not even think twice about offering cake to you.

Absolutely, the folks in the office actually apologize to me for bringing in bagels or cookies or anything. I just laugh and say I do not want it. The other day though they had Ice cream and I felt like they owed me an apology. How dare they! LOL. Anyway you will see that the cravings and thoughts of foods will diminish with time. Your willpower will ramp up with every pound you lose and I am willing to bet the first time you have to go buy new clothes you will be able to skoff at cakes and goodies and feel superior over the carb junkies. :icondance
