• I hope I'm doing this right!!!

:confused Hi everyone. I have been trying to begin induction for over a month now, finally I am on my third day!
I have some questions on foods I'm not so sure about. In my Atkins book it says to stay away from foods with Sodium Nitrite, it is in every thing. I cannot find bacon or other meats without it, so what do I eat? I also have a horrible SWEET TOOTH problem and have found some low carb, no sugar candy bars that are very delicious and some of them are Atkins, Can I eat that stuff on induction? What about low carb no sugar ice cream? I would appreciate some advice PLEASE! I have been a size 7 as long as I can remember, now I am double that. I am misserable. I have to lose at the least 50lbs. Hope to hear from someone soon. I need to know I am doing induction to a T or what good am I gonna do!

:wave Thank you, iwillbsize7

:wave Welcome!! I am ot so sure of the bacon part, but I do know that the bars and ice cream are a no no for the 14 day induction, then if you think you need them. It kind of helps break the "sweet tooth". I hope this helps!

Hi and welcome!

We are advised to avoid sodium nitrite because of implications that it causes cancer: it's your personal decision whether to eat foods with that or not.

Re: the candy bars...well, right there you say you have a sweet tooth problem..that should be a clear indicator that you need to stay away from treats..even if they are labelled low carb.

Also, just because a label says low carb doesn't mean it's Induction safe.
Read the labels and check them against the Acceptable Foods list. If anything on there isn't on the AF lists, then you can't have them. I'm thinking there are many things in those bars that are not Induction legal.

Induction is the time to learn about your relationship with foods and make new eating habits. There are Induction friendly things you can make (like a tbs of cream cheese mixed with splenda, and others..check out the recipe forums and the recipe tab at the top of the screen) but you need to address this, battle with and beat that sugar monster. :yes

I used to tell people that I "..HAVE to have chocolate in the house, because I get anxious when I don't have any!" and I thought that was rational. I see now that I had such a huge dependance on treats, and I'm glad that's over now and in the past.

The ice cream will have to wait until you are on the Dairy Rung in OWL.

Hello Penny :wave welcome to ha
Congratulations on getting started on this WOE.

BTW to make your ticker display it has to have after the .png

You can add it to your signature easily by clicking on 'Profile' at the top of the page then scrolling down and typing it in the signature box.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
