  • Hi all! I started induction last week m

Wednesday. I have been 100% good except for gin and diet tonic. As of Friday, I had already lost 3 lbs. I haven't weighed again yet. Do I HAVE to give up my one cocktail, do I??

      From DANDR, Chapter 18:
      11. [During Induction] Alcohol is not permitted in any form.

Though some people have posted that they can lose weight while having the odd drink of alcohol, it is no doubt affecting their rate of losing

Your body will use the alcohol as a 'preferred fuel' and might be 'storing' the food you eat instead of burning that up so you will assist your weightloss progress by dropping the booze initially.

When you have moved to the 5th OWL rung/level you can reintroduce alcohol and see how it affects your losing.

We get many people posting that even when they drink alcohol their body remains in ketosis according to the ketosticks - this is because they register the acetones given off in urine as a byproduct of burning alcohol as being the same as ketones, thus giving a false positive result. So if you do drink alcohol don't waste your ketosticks
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Why not start a new unwinding ritual? For example, a nice soak in the tub.

Since you are in a hotel, you might want to take advantage of the spa and exercise rooms many hotels have. Have a swim, do a couple of miles on the exercise bike or on the treadmill.

Exercise has plenty of benefits in addition to using calories. It releases endorphins. Endorphins are brain chemicals that act the same way alcohol and recreational drugs do. Exercise decreases stress, enhances your ability to sleep/relax.

Remember Atkins is a lifestyle change----and that means your entire lifestyle. Break the old habits that contributes to your weight and your poor health and adopt new habits that support your weight loss efforts and your improved health.

True, I exercise now every day, so that part I do right, but I do it before work. I will have to think of something else to wind down, I work sort of late most evenings I am away. THANKS
