Ashley, just get back on plan NOW.

It may take you a few days to start losing again.

Just consider this a lesson and learn from it. Strawberries are legal when you get to OWL Rung 4.

There is a reason why the OWL rungs are structured in the order they are... and unfortunately you just discovered why.

Lessons learned. Sometimes it takes a few days to get into ketosis and that helps with the cravings. Next time it happens come to the board and talk about it.

Re: help me i messed up

Ashley, you have been a member here since September, more than half a year. You have asked for and have received a massive amount of advice and support. These types of posts have been in the majority to posts where you are following the diet. It's time to pay the piper. It's time to take responsibility for your own actions. If losing weight and getting healthy is important enough to you, you will follow the diet plan as written. If you are not willing to read the book, at least read the stickies. You will actually use the advice given to you. It's time to cut to the chase and take this seriously.

Since this has happened so often in the past, you should already know what eating four Tootsie Roll Pops, three Jolly Ranchers, a spoon of peanut butter and a Starburst will do to your induction, and how long it will take to get back into ketosis and start losing again. You may not know that every time you go out of ketosis and stop the process, the harder it is for your body to get into ketosis again and longer it will take to start losing. It doesn't take long for your body to figure out it might as well hold on, because you are not serious about the new eating plan.

The "feeling bad" was just an excuse to eat candy. Have you ever "felt bad," went to the doctor and been prescribed candy to get you well or make you feel better? After you are in ketosis, sugar will just make you sick. The strawberry was the least of your problems. I seriously doubt one strawberry had enough carbs to give you a sugar rush.

Do you REALLY want to do Atkins? It's your choice. We can help you, but we can't do it for you.
People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.

I am not going to say anything that you haven't heard before. To be an Atkins success:
              • Read Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution 2002. Read it, highlight the parts that you want to remember, re-read it. Consider it your instruction manual.
              • Make copies of the Acceptable Food List for Induction and the Rules of Induction and carry them with you so you have no excuses. Read them often. And if it isn't on the list, don't eat it.
              • Plan, plan, plan!!! Plan your meals, your snacks, your "go to" emergency plan if you find yourself stranded without your food or have a plan for travel or vacation. Don't use "emergencies" as an excuse.
              • Stay hydrated with water. Water will flush out toxins.
              • Exercise. Find some forms of exercise that you enjoy doing whether it is walking, dancing, an exercise class, DVD exercise, swimming, bicycling or whatever.
              • Look to this board for accurate information and ask questions. The moderators or people who have had success with Atkins are willing to help.
              • Remember this is Dr. Atkins plan. Doing Atkins except for the parts you don't want to do doesn't work, so don't expect it to. He spelled it out clearly in DANDR 2002. He not only tells us what to eat, but what to avoid.
As previous posters have indicated, it takes a commitment to Atkins and staying on plan. It is up to you.

When you are alone in your head, you are in a bad neighborhood.

Re: help me i messed up

Just keep trying Ashley. Take the encouragement from the above posts and use it to press on....You and only you know how badly you want the results. Don't allow anything said here that may seem condescending keep you from continuing to try or ask questions or just ask for a little encouragement if you need to.

I dont think you would be here if you didnt want to do this. I was under the impression that this board is for support, not beating someone over the head or questioning their sincerity when they are down. I for one wouldnt appreciate being spoken to in that way or talked down to...regardless of how long you have been here trying to do atkins, you can certianly ask for some support. You made a mistake. We have all made them. You know you made it....so just get back on your feet and keep going. By all means don't stop coming here and dont give up. Just get right back on track and take it one day at a time. Irish has given some very good points. I would print that off and tape it on your bathroom mirror and read it every day at least once a day....The next time you feel bad try eating some legal vitamin and mineral rich veggies instead of fruit. Sometimes when I have a sweet craving, I will eat some celery stalks with a little cream cheese...the celery is naturally sweet and it really helps me.

There is no such thing as a stupid question...the only stupid thing truly is giving up. Hang in there. i understand how you feel.
