  • Buffalo Wing sauce Question

We run a pizza shop the wing sauce im choosing is the plain hot sauce.
Original Wingers recipe CAYENNE PEPPER SAUCE.
It says 0% everything cals , carbs......
The ingredients are salt and pepper yata yata .
    But it says sugar ?

Is this from the pepper ?

Is it safe to put on wings?

    Thanks

Is the sugar listed among the ingredients or only on the nutritional label, under "Carbohydrate"? If it is among the ingredients, then the sauce is not allowed during Induction.

We are HUGE wings people. We make out own 1/2c (1 stick) butter to about 3/4cup Durkee's Red Hot Sauce. You can make it more or less - this is very middle of the road. It is induction friendly. My Uncle own a Buffalo Wild Wings and I know their sauce has sugar and all kind of junk in it. I say make your own - it's cheaper too and isn't full of artificial ingredients

Indeed, stay away from any listed sugar. I have found that any processed meat product can knock me out of ketosis, even though the amount of carbohydrates listed is less than the amount that should do that. I was eating turkey and chicken hot dogs as meals and found that even though I was only eating 5 grams of carbs a day, I was out of ketosis. Once I am out of ketosis, the bloating from water retention tells me. If I stop eating the hot dogs, I go back into ketosis and quickly lose that water weight. I am convinced that the ingredients labels are quite often in error.

I love German Brown mustard. NO carbs listed, but it too appears to knock me out of ketosis if I put it on fish (also no carbs). I am convinced that mustard does have carbs regardless of the labels.

Many products have carbs even though they are not on the label. This is because labelling laws are such that if the amount is under zero you can say that there is zero carbs in it. So often with cheese for instance - they say serving portion is about one dice size and that there is no carb in it. But of course there are carbs in cheese.

Mustard really? Maybe because it is a grain. Interesting.

Were/Are you eating your 3 cups of vegetables? You should also get over half of your net carbs from veggies.

Be also careful with the percentages too. You should be getting about 65% of your calories from fat and only 30% from protein.

Yep, most mustard brands have added sugar. The carbs are listed as zero per serving (1 tsp), but they add up quickly if you are eating more than 1 tsp. Even if there is no sugar added, it is normal for mustard to have some carbs since there are carbs in the mustard seeds, in the vinegar... is just that per teaspoon, the count is small enough to be approximated as 0.
