  • Day 14 of induction

    Hi, everyone.

To day is my 14th day of induction.

Through the first 10 days, I lost 10 lbs. Great!!

But for the past 3 days, no change. Still at -10lbs.

I know it's normal, just a little bummed at no change in 3 days, and now I'm supposed to increase carbs tomorrow on OWL rung 1.

    Sigh...

    Congrats on your loss!

Don't expect to lose weight everyday otherwise, you might discourage yourself unnecessarily.

Thanks. Is it OK to move to OWL even though I haven't lost in 3 days?

Yes! During OWL, you look at your weekly loss (pounds or inches), not daily losses.

          Thank you!

I'll weigh tomorrow morning (finished induction), then I'll put the scale away until next Tuesday.

          Thanks again!

Also, you don't *have* to move onto OWL... according to the book it's safe to continue!
            Started Atkins 4/7/09
            10lbs down!

              Thanks for the tip!

But, I think I'm going to switch to OWL tomorrow. While doing Atkins in the past, I just stayed on induction until I eventually quit.

This time I'm going to progress through the program and see what happens.

                Good for you!

While the book says you may stay on Induction longer than 2 weeks, it also says that the only people who may benefit from doing that are the people with a high metabolic resistance to weight loss and the book also says that your last 5-10 pounds should be lost in Pre-Maintenance Phase. We've found over the years, that staying on Induction doesn't guarantee continued weight loss or a consistent rate of weight loss....especially for people with average to low metabolic resistance. And we've found that the folks who stay on Induction either get bored and start cheating or they become so carb-phobic they cannot move to OWL or Pre-Maintenance for fear of not losing any weight at all.

Alot of people think OWL is a waste of time and really isn't necessary. But it's the time when you get to eat a wider variety of food and lose weight while doing it. Also you learn about your body's tolerance to foods, so that helps you when you get to goal and have to start eating for your goal-weight body.

So good for you for moving on. I loved OWL phase.

Thanks for the vote of confidence.

Looking forward to later phases where I can add more variety.

Everyone else, keep on keeping on...
