  • 1 week on induction and I need help

Today is week 1 and I have lost about 5lbs. Also, today my monthly friend has arrived and I am craving carbs, candy and any type of food. I chew sugarless gum but it's truly not helping. I really want to stick to this at least for the 2 weeks but I need help. This is what I have eaten so far today and will eat tonight:

B - 3 hard boiled eggs, 2 slices ham and 1 slice cheese
snack - 1 piece sugarless gum
L - romaine lettuce and green peppers with olive oil and 2 pieces of grilled chicken
snack - 1 piece sugarless gum
Dinner - cauliflower and 2 hot dogs and 2 slices thin pork chops

I'm not used to not having fruit or yogurt or some sort of real snack. What do you guys eat? Please help. Thanks

Sugarless gum may just make your cravings worse. Try cutting it out. They contain artificial sugar that may get your brain craving more.
Why can't you have a real snack? Like avocado- olives- celery with cream cheese--
What you are eating is looking fine.
Keep your eyes on the prize. Focus

I forgot to mention that I have some cheese cubes also.
What other snacks do you eat or what is your daily menu look like? Other than celery, what else do you put cream cheese on? Thanks

A lot of sugarless gum still has carbs... you have to check the package...

My daily menu is a bit far from induction. I have been doing this for a year and a half just about.
But on induction I found that it did not hurt to "indulge" as long as it was legal. I ate some proscuito with swiss cheese roll ups (those are very good Blue cheese - cause I love blue cheese - cheese cake -(although always within the cheese limit)
Cream cheese is very good on lox. Is there anything better really?

Re: 1 week on induction and I need help

I bought chicken wings and baked them and then tossed them in some hot sauce and kept them for snacks with a little ranch dressing.

I'd make muffin quiches and keep them in the freezer to heat up when I needed a snack.

Turkey slices rolled up with some mayo or veggies make a good snack.

Lots of raw veggies with a ranch dip are always in the refrigerator.

Personally, I stay away from sugarless gums, candies and other fake sweets. Triggering sweet cravings is something I'm not willing to risk on a routine basis.

Liv - cheesecake? Seriously?? Like regular cheesecake without the bottom crust?

Irish - how do you make muffin quiches?

I'm running to the store tonight b/c I need to do this as I am getting married in Mid May and I want to look as best as I can even if its' 10 lbs less than I am now. Thanks everyone

Re: 1 week on induction and I need help

This recipe will be 6 "Egg Muffins". They are quiche like in consistency. They also freeze well after baking and cooling.

                5 well beaten eggs
                1/4 cup cream
                1/8 cup iced water
6 heaping teaspoons grated cheddar or colby
                1 teaspoon parmesean cheese
                pepper to taste
                Mix together thoroughly.

Mound no more than an 1 heaping teaspoon of grated cheese in each of six sprayed muffin tins. (Tip: Home grated cheese goes further than pre-grated, packaged cheese and isn't treated with any starchy products)

Add crisp bacon or diced ham, sausage, peppers, left over veggies to muffin tins topping with some remaining cheese. Pour egg mixture over cheese and "toppings".

Bake at 350 for 15 to 18 minutes until set.

Re: 1 week on induction and I need help

To add to the other great snacks others have suggested - some people find that a good snack when craving something sweet is something sour instead like a dill pickle.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
