Ok, don't want to sound like an Alcoholic or anything, PLUS I know alcohol is a no-no on induction. However, if Scotch has zero carbs and I'm not worried about the alcohol giving me the munchies, why can't I still have one now and then? Even if on the induction phase??

Re: Scotch and Water
As I understand it, your body will burn the alcohol first rather than the fat and can slow loss. That said, I had a few diet tonics and gin (also no carb) and had a reasonable weight loss nonetheless. I think it must be a somewhat individual thing.Originally posted by Loewen View PostOk, don't want to sound like an Alcoholic or anything, PLUS I know alcohol is a no-no on induction. Re: Scotch and Water
In addition to what mom wrote, you want to maximize your weight loss potential during Induction by not doing anything to slow or sabotage it. Your loss at the end of the 14 days will help you determine how the rest of your Atkins will proceed.
For example, if you lost 6 pounds during Induction, but you did things like drink alcohol, eat more than 3 servings of artifical sweeteners, not exercise, etc. that 6 pounds might not represent your true weight loss potential: You might have lost 10 pounds if you didn't sabotage it by doing those things.
So don't do anything to sabotage your weight loss. Maximize it by following the Rules, so that you get the maximum results, not the minimum.

Re: Scotch and Water
for the first 14 days you are trying to break addictions so there was a clear list of foods and rules to follow. If you don't eat the acceptable food only and follow the rules you aren't doing Atkins properly. If you are serious about losing weight you can get through induction and through the rungs until you get to the Alcohol rung. Have some faith in yourself and the program.

Re: Scotch and Water
Alcohol inhibits your body's ability to burn fat. I forget the formula, but I know that it does something to generally slow your metabolism.
Plus because alcohol is such a strong diuretic, the day after your body produces adh...or anti diuretic hormone which makes you retain water for a day or two.
