At Georgiana's suggestion (thank you VERY much), I did the candida spit test this morning. OMG! I must be totally overrun with the stuff!
I'm a little confused because the Candida Diet is VERY similar Atkins -- so I'm surprised that after 6 weeks of Induction, I still have such a problem. In fact, I can't tell if it's worse or better than before, because I never even knew to consider it. I've never had a yeast infection, for instance.
The only thing I've been eating on Atkins that would be problematic is mushrooms -- and I'm definitely done with those! Throwing out the casserole today.
So now I'm conflicted. I have not really begun to move up the OWL rungs -- I've eaten some extra veggies some days, but that's it. But the Candida Diet seems to suggest that I need some probiotic yogurt and certain fruits.
What's a girl to do?
If I'm not mistaken, the candida overgrowth may be one of the main causes of my weight gain. Right now, getting it under control seems like a priority.
