  • pork rind chips and other induction snacks

    Hi
Do any of you guys eat the pork rind chips for a snack while on induction? Also, what other snacks do you eat on induction other than meat and eggs?
    Thanks

I have had pork rinds a few times but they aren't a big favorite on my list. I use them for coating chicken and for the binder in meatloaf. I snack on string cheese, veggies cut up (radishes, celery, cucumber, zucchini, etc). You need to get your veggie carbs in every day - during Induction you should eat at least 14 of your daily 20 carbs with them. Check the acceptable food list and see which veggies you like best, cut them up and munch on them throughout the day. There is also a new challenge starting on Monday to make sure you get your Veggies in each day...you might want to join it and make sure you are getting enough. Hope this helps

I don't like pork rinds, but that's just me. They are legal though, just be careful with the sodium -- it may cause you water retention issues.

This 14 g "rule" (or 12-15 g) was actually added after Dr. Atkins' death and does not appear in the 2002 edition of "Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution". According to the book, during Induction we should consume no more than 20 net carbs, which means that having a total of 15 for example is also okay. Out of your total net carbs, over half should come from three cups of vegetables. Out of these three cups, maximum one can consist of vegetables from the "Other Vegetables" list, while the rest should be "Salad Vegetables". So if one day you had, let's say, 13 net carbs, at least 7 of these should come from three cups of vegetables.

The list of foods allowed during Induction can be found here: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...induction.html
