I want an ice cream cone so bad...can anyone talk me out of it? =(

Will I ever be able to have ice cream again?

    Thanks,

Don't have the ice cream, have frosty cinnamon buttons instead

    1 1/2 oz cream cheese
    2 packets splenda
    pinch or two of cinnamon.

Soften the cream cheese in the microwave for 30 seconds...add the splenda and the cinnamon. Put little blobs on a piece of parchment or wax paper and put in the freezer for 15 minutes. Then enjoy! They satisfy the craving for something creamy and cold

And yes, you can have ice cream again, once you start going up the carbohydrate ladder and are on the dairy rung, just so long as its sugar free and full fat cream

Take off your clothes stand in front of the mirror. There is no craving that image has not been able to cure for me.

          Oh Liv! That's great!

I once heard of a diet that went like this: "You can eat as much as you want of anything you want - but you have to stand naked in front of a mirror while eating it." I didn't try it because I was afraid I'd starve to death!!

dont eat the ice cream hun! make some yummy eggs or bacon, when you are done eating those you wont want ice cream! also try putting a waterbottle in the freezer for about an hour or so, then try drinking the freezing slushy water! ;D usually when i want ice cream, its because i want something ICE COLD lol.

there is a website that i use that help me with cravings, its Linda's Low Carb Menus & Recipes - Home check that out if you wanna see some of your low carb options for dessert!

the whole point of induction is to kill your cravings, not be a slave to them. and the whole point of owl is to re-teach yourself to eat correctly. you need to be conscious of your decisions, and not be a slave to your impulses. thats how i look at it at least. every other time i've done atkins, i didnt have this epiphany, and i cheated, and failed.
any time i had a craving in the beginning, i had a little tough love conversation with myself, and i realized it was like talking to a child throwing a tantrum. 'well i want it!' 'well you cant have it' 'well why not one wont hurt' 'do you have so little respect for yourself that you want to gorge on every little thing you want just because it crosses your mind?' i really made myself realize that the entire reason i got fat to begin with is i didn't ever realize it was important to be -healthy-. to be consciously aware of what energy you put into your body, what its for, and putting good things in so my body works how its supposed to. every time.

also, when that fails, most people have horrible reactions to cheating. people who've been on atkins for a while then go eat a bunch of carbs and sugar generally get the worst sick/hangover feeling for the next 2 days. diharreah, migraines, bloating, etc. it puts into perspective how BAD it is for you. why would you want to do that to yourself for 5 minutes of taste. its just a sensation. also cheating will probably kick you out of ketosis, and it take a good long time to get back into it.

before, i couldnt go more than maybe a week without breaking down and cheating. i always felt like a failure even though i lost 32lbs. something was missing, and it was the healthy mind set. this time, i consciously ignore my mom (who claims shes doing atkins too) when she goes to the store and buys m&ms and chips then laughs it off like it isnt a big deal. its the biggest deal to me. while she's putting crap in her body then starving the rest of the day so it 'wont count', i'm eating broccoli and porkchops, and am full and satisfied and excited to see my next loss.

cravings -are- hard, we all know what its like. but this is your test! i don't use sweet things to try to get rid of cravings, i think thats antiproductive. i personally say out loud 'wow im so craving brownies right now'. saying it aloud makes me responsible for what i do next, and thats exactly what you've done here! but only you can make it past the cravings. trust me, it does get better. i rarely have cravings anymore. i eat to fuel my body, and if you left me alone in a room full of chocolate, i honestly don't think i could bring myself to eat it. i've only lost 15.4lbs in almost 50 days, but i've been cheat free the entire time and lost 15.5 inches. i know what its like to cheat, then spend the next 2 weeks getting back to where you were. if you can spare yourself that frustration, do it!!!!

when im in the middle of a craving, i usually don't eat anything. i think trying to trick myself by eating something sweet will just make it worse, and eating something savory when i want something sweet will just make me think about it even more. i sit, drink water, and just... let it happen. i think about brownies, and how much i want one. i think about those awesome brownies my bf's mom made at christmas. but thats as far as it goes. i -never- imagine myself eating it, or let myself contemplate 'just one'. keep in mind cravings are just your body readjusting to the lack of sugar, and if you dont get past it and keep cheating, you just keep getting cravings. push past them, they do get less intense!
