So, I really need some help with this...next week I will be driving from Texas to Virginia and back to pick up my son...it is really hard to stay on any kind of plan, I know, I have done this for the last 3 years...with fast food places and being tired I am not going to want to go out to eat in a sit down restaurant....I need some advice...

Could you take a cooler packed with veggies, cheeses, meat roll ups, dips and other legal goodies?

You could stop at nice rest areas to eat them for a break from driving.

We are on the road right now and what I do is go out for a big breakfast before I get on the road. Be careful of omlets, ask if they are gluten free as sometimes they add pancake batter, eggs and bacon is a good choice

Get a cheap icebox and load it with cheese sicks, celery, ranch dressing, etc. Fred Meyers even sells hard boiled eggs.... Nibble the rest of the day, drinking lots of water.
Fast food is doable, pizza without the crust, burgers without the bun.

pickles wrapped in meat and cream cheese are always good to eat on the run -ham rolled up or chicken dipped in mayo, any and all veggies, cheese sticks, premade salads (take your own dressing) make fried chicken and take with you, deviled eggs.

Take several bottles of water, or big a big cup with a lid and a couple gallon jugs of water and take them with you.

That is what I do when I am on the run. I stop and have a chicken salad. The other day, I was tired of chicken the the girls wanted Wendy's so I have a bacon cheesburger (99 cents) threw away the bun and a side salad with Ceaser dressing.

I boil eggs every week now and I carry a cooler with cheese sticks, lunch mean rolls, eggs.

Good luck to you traveling! I'm going on a cruise in mid-June to Alaska and my husband is terrified I won't stay on program. I think it'll be okay ..... I'm going to enjoy all the steak and lobster and salmon and stuff that I can find .... I'm sure it won't be that difficult and I can treat myself to a glass of wine a day if I feel like it! I'm READY!!! Let me know what you did while traveling that you thought really helped!

And if you dont have a car-cooler for the drive just freeze some 3/4 full bottles of water the day before and use them as an ice block to keep food cold, and to drink when they defrost.

                    Re: Traveling and induction

Thank you for your ideas...in the past, I would start out thinking I was going strong and then after the second day, end up eating something wrong...like a biscuit at Cracker Barrell...then I kept it up and felt awful by the time I got home...I also didn't understand what I could eat...I have had the atkins book in my home for about 15-18 years. I just thought the shakes were a good option for breakfast not realizing they were not what I needed...also nuts...I love cashews and just read in a book tonight that they are actually a fruit...and peanuts a legume...so even thought I boiled eggs, I was doomed from the start...

This time I am going to try to stay on the path...I have to...I leave Tuesday and hope to be home on Sunday...wish me luck

Oh...btw...pickles wrapped in meat sound really yummy...

Thanks for all the responses....well I leave tomorrow and will probably be leaving tomorrow and hopefully will be back by Saturday...I will try to check in...but when I get to the hotels at night after many hours of driving I think I will be exhausted....is it ok to drink caffeine...I usually to for energy, but I am on the water challenge so it would be after I goet through with the water...but if I do is it ok?

Caffeine can give many people cravings so if you do use it keep a wary eye out for them.
