  • My progress so far and a question :)

Ok, so I began my induction phase on Monday April 20th, and have been losing very well, and consistently, as I am down 14.5 lbs. I know that ketosis is a natural appetite suppressant, and I am feeling it. Even though I sit here feeling hungry I have not the desire to eat. Knowing that increased fat intake is important, my question is, am I hindering my weight loss by NOT eating as much? Could I be losing even more if I would make myself eat? I know I need the protein so I'm eating regardless, I'm just satisfied quicker, and actually bored with eating, so I don't bother.

    Starting weight 301.5lbs on 4/20/09

if you feel hungry, eat! going too long without eating something will slow your metabolism and drop your blood sugar which will make you crave sugar. most of us before atkins have the mindset of we eat whatever we're craving, whenever we're craving it. we have to change that. a craving does not equal hunger. eat to live, dont live to eat! your body is a machine, if its running low on fuel, give it the best kind, even if its just a little

Lowell, I think the answer is "yes, if you don't eat enough or skip meals, you'll actually do worse." I'd say make sure you get your 20 carbs even if you have to force yourself to eat them. I know what you are saying, but skipping a meal or going ultra-low carb will probably be counter productive.

if its a day where you have no appetite, make sure the things you do eat are higher in carbs (moreso than lettuce anyway) and fats so you're still getting energy without starving yourself. pureeing veggies into sauces is also a good way to get a serving without having to actually gnosh on anything
