  • 14 Day Induction Progress Report

I just finished my first 14 days, and I lost 10 pounds total. I think it is a good start, and I am now trying to decide whether to continue induction for awhile or move to OWL. I am going to read the info in the book about that, and any advice anyone else has would be appreciated.

During Induction, most people lose 5-10% of the weight they have to lose. Because you started with 61 lbs, 10 lbs means over 16%. So your results are excellent! If you check the charts on page 158 you'll see that 10 lbs put you right in the middle of the average-low range of metabolic resistance.

We have seen on the Board that many people who do not have a high metabolic resistance or a lot to lose, but decide to extend their Induction, experience a stall in their weight loss. However, this is not a rule. The best thing to do is read Chapter 13 and take the decision you think is best for you.

      From Chapter 13 of DANDR
Weight Loss During the First Two Weeks on a Fat-Burning Program for Patients at Three Levels of Obesity

Degree of Metabolic Resistance for Men
Pounds Lost in First 14 Days When Metabolic Resistance is high, average or low:
      Pounds to Lose . . . . High . . . . Average . . . . Low
      Less than 20 . . . . . 4 . . . . . . 6 . . . . . 8
      20-50 . . . . . . . . . 6 . . . . . . 9 . . . . . 12
      Over 50 . . . . . . . . 8 . . . . . .12 . . . . . 16

Degree of Metabolic Resistance for Women
Pounds Lost in First 14 Days When Metabolic Resistance is high, average or low:
      Pounds to Lose . . . . High . . . . Average . . . . Low
      Less than 20 . . . . . 2 . . . . . . 4 . . . . . . 6
      20-50 . . . . . . . . 3 . . . . . . 6 . . . . . . 9
      Over 50 . . . . . . . 4 . . . . . . 8 . . . . . 12
So it appears you have a low to average resistance to weightloss and therefore probably would not benefit from staying on induction any longer.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Thanks for the feedback. I was just thinking that because I still had about 50 pounds to go, maybe I should stay on induction; however, I had not considered the metabolic resistance factor. Thanks for the info!
