  • Dizzy during induction?

Hey all - brand new here.

I did Atkins in 2001 or so, dropped 15 pounds quickly and was pleased as could be with the results. I managed to maintain my weight even after two babies but I got derailed because of all the toddler carbs around the house all the time (think Goldfish crackers, raisins, Cheerios, etc.)

We recently took a trip and I put on 5 pounds that I just couldn't shed with exercise and a low-fat eating plan, so I'm trying Atkins again. I just started Tuesday and notice that I'm having bouts of dizziness. I don't recall this from my first time and was wondering if this is typical. I suspect - but am not 100% certain - that it's related to being hungry (and that's the other thing - I am STARVING all the time! Now THAT I remember from the first time).

In any event, any input is appreciated. Thanks!!

If you are doing Atkins, you should not be starving. Eat when you're hungry, stop eating when you're satisfied -- no need to artificially restrict your caloric intake.

If you post your menu, then we can see if anything there that should be changed.

The dizziness could be a symptom of the "Induction flu", but it could just as well be caused by not eating enough.

I suffered dizziness for a couple of days just about 2 weeks in.

As Georgiana says.... up your calories and see if that helps. No way you should be starving all the time on this diet. Just try to be sure that you're actually hungry and not just craving a "fix" of carbs.

In my case, I certainly didn't need to up my food intake... and the dizziness disappeared after two days.

I got dizzy a couple of times but it soon passed. Veggies and water will keep your hunger away if you do them both throughout the day.

Thanks, all. I'm feeling better today, which leads me to believe it might have been the induction flu (I love that term!). I do think I need to eat a bit more throughout the day, but I tend to get so busy with my kids that I forget to eat and suddenly realize I'm absolutely starving.
