I feel bad but I did it last night. Went to a friends house and I felt rude to refuse certain foods like french fries and a piece of cake. I had been following strict induction for a bit more than a week, thankfully this morning I haven't gained any weight. My question is, do I have to do induction allover again or just another week before I move onto OWL? Thanks a bunch. BTW, this diet rocks. Dizzy yes, but my cravings are completely gone.

Re: Question about a cheat
You don't have to restart induction. It won't give you the 'truest' reading on what your metabolic resistance is, but if you were overly worried about that you wouldn't have eaten... cake! lol
Your cravings might rear their head again for a day or two, I would keep an eye out for that. Drink your water and eat legal!
If you want really good motivation to not cheat again, read page 329 to 330, about 'glycation.' Sugar is the path to being old! it is the path to saggy skin and arthritis and stiffness and just general aging faster than you need to age. I have decided I can be a little rude if it saves my eyes, organs, skin! And you can always save face by taking the food, scooting it around the plate, and finding a convenient moment to dump it.
But don't stress over it, it is a learning process. Have a good Atkins day!

Re: Question about a cheat
No, just continue and make sure you're in ketosis before moving to OWL. But in my opinion, this is the smallest problem you are having right now. Since Atkins is a lifetime commitment, what should concern you is why you felt that refusing french fries and cake would be rude and, even more important, what are you going to do about this in the future.Originally posted by Natasha81 View PostI feel bad but I did it last night. Re: Question about a cheat
is it rude to refuse your good health over junk food? I have been to friends and family members homes for meals since I've been on Atkins and have either taken a few things that will keep me legal or I have eaten before I go so I'm not tempted to eat non-legal foods.
make sure you drink extra water for the next few days. Make better plans when you go out from now on, or better yet, invite people to your home and feed them legal foods so you don't have to cheat again.
Good luckCarole_____________________May Water 130oz daily

Re: Question about a cheat
I think it is perfectly fine to say "no thank you" to fries, cakes and other thinks that are not in line with your plan for healthy eating. If all they were serving is fries and cake, it was hardly an invitation to a meal. Learn to put yourself first.
When you are alone in your head, you are in a bad neighborhood.

Re: Question about a cheat
If Im going over to anyone's house I tell them beforehand that Im taking care of myself and not eating anything that has sugar in it, flour, etc etc. And I tell them i will bring a dish that I can eat with me so as not to put pressure on them to have to prepare something special. Or I tell them just put out cucumbers and cream cheese and thats enough. I always eat before I go also.
As long as you show them your not willing to bend your rules of your diet then they will give in and leave you alone. At least that has been my experience.Atkins Startdate: Monday, March 9th, 2009
