  • Im LOOKING for a 2nd time arounder!!!!!!

This is my second try on Atkin. From April 08-Nov 08 (7 mos.) I lost 50 amazing pounds!! Gained it back of course! Said I needed a break for awhile(5 mos?).
Now...7th day on induction have lost 8lbs.

I organized a biggest loser club at work and 20 people have signed up and put $20 in the kitty last Monday.....yep $400!!! They can do any program without diet supplements or surgeries..lol.

Im sure they will be suprised when I weigh in tommorrow and of course ask me what I am doing....hahaha

I plan on posting nurtritional facts and healthy info for them along the way.

This time I thought is was going to harder taking the weight off because I remember reading somewhere,,,,your become metabolic resistance jumping on and off the wagon. So far, so good. 8 lbs. is not too shabby.

    What Im doing different this time around;
No splenda, No sugar free, No caffene, No pork rinds, No sugar at all.

    So far...No cravings!

All Linda's low carb recipes are wonderful....I have a bunch of her recipes.

    Today, for the week,so far I have made;
    1.Deviled eggs
    2.Egg/sausage muffins
    3.Tuna salad
    4.Chicken with parm
Also, I found a recipe on this site which was a sub for fried potatoes.
RADISHES and onions with garlic! Can u believe it? They were awesome if you like potatoes. Have tried the mock potatoes with cali...YUK
I always miss bread, soooo I will try to perfect Cleopatra's oopsie rolls. Not to keen on using lettuce for my bread sub.
Not too found of getting in the salad routine either!

      Elizellen,

      Thank You!
I have seen you around the boards for a long time bringing inspiration to so many people! I remember you from the last time.....what would WE do without ya? Your someone I would like to hang around with! But strictly platonic....lol...sorry about the floating hearts!

My ticker was from the last time...so it is incorrect (I wish it was so) Spent an hour or so attempting to change it.

      Happy Mother's Day!

welcome to you -- glad you decided to come back to this amazing WOE. I have been making the fried radishes for some time and love them - although I don't put garlic in mine - just radishes and onion....I even added some corned beef and made hash one night when my family was having the fried potato version of hash...it was delicious.

            Good luck to you

Re: Im LOOKING for a 2nd time arounder!!!!!!

This is my second time around on Atkins as well. I was originally 176, I lost 12 doing Protein power and lost 12.5 lbs with Atkins. My husband went off to the military and I gained 13 lbs back. I am back on the wagon. I'm really lucky because I don't think I suffered too bad from induction flu. If I did I took BC powders and that cleared me right up.

I'm doing a clean induction this time. Last time I had wine at dinner parties, and I drank diet soda during induction (with the aspartame). This time I'm not going to do that, I want to see what my metabolic resistance is! It wasn't accurate the first time.

Well, In truth this is several times I've done Atkins, but the last time was the only time I stuck with it long enough to really give it a chance....And I really feel much better when I am "Atkinsizing" as my brother calls it.....

Re: Im LOOKING for a 2nd time arounder!8days NO CHEAT

Well....weighed in at work today and lost 9 lovely Atkins pounds in 8 days TaDah!! BUT.. one worker lost 11...she only told me she was eating veggies. Just to refresh, I organized a Biggest Loser Club cause everyone was so excited to do a weight loss program, whatever they wanted and 20 workers put $20 in the kitty. So, every Monday, we will weigh in.

Ya know, I did this before and lost 50 pounds without the kitty, and the money isnt as important as everyone getting fit and healthy...BUT a little competition is GOOD for the Soul and a NEW wardrobe!! AND looking good again is VERY IMPORTANT. 9 pounds off and I already feel great about myself and not disgusted anymore.

Things To DO LIST this time around!
                      1. Exercise coming soon
                      2. Keep a consistent journal
                      3. Stay in touch with the forum for support
                      4. Climb the ladder of rungs...and
                      5. Move to OWL in 14 days

Anything else anyone would like to add I missed??
                      Atkinsizing....I like that
Well welcome back everyone and I hope your excited as I am to get this party started!! This time will be different right?
Do we want to continue to work the same poundage over and over aqain? NO!!!
Is our body trying to tell us something? YES!!! Does the little petite girl you know or a male friend eat all day long and looks like a twig?
Well 2nd time around is not a charm, BUT............it is a time when WE will get it right and have experience to kick some FAT'S

I really, really have to get on the exercise bandwagon,,,,I've been back on Atkins for 4 weeks today and have only managed 3-4 exercise sessions...that's less than one per week on average....I need encouragement here !!!! And this time I plan to do the OWL Ladder better....In fact I just "copy and paste" it so I can print and post on the fridge....

                          Congratulations on those 8 pounds

Are you competing for actual pounds lost or percentage of initial body weight lost?

You have already lost about 3% of your total starting weight

Someone with more pounds to lose than the rest of you is probably going to win if you are using pound numbers as your statistics and those with maybe 25 pounds in total won't stand a chance

Well...we DID think about doing the % of fat, but I guess didn't want it to get too complicated. If you think about it as the norm most people rely on the scale to measure their success as well as how their clothes fit, right?

But, yeah to be more accurate we could have went that direction.
What I am hoping for at the end of the 12 wks. we have all changed our lifesyles to improve health and appearance and GAINED tons of benefits.

I was not thinking of % of bodyfat lost, as I agree that is complicated to work out and not that accurate depending on the method of measuring it, what I meant was to work out what percentage of the total body weight had been lost by each person and use that number to decide who had lost the most.
Using the scales numbers and a calculator you can easily work out who has lost the most percentage of their starting weight.

Take an example of 2 people, one starts at 250 pounds and loses 50 pounds, the other starts at 200 pounds and loses 45 pounds. Looking just at the number of pounds lost it would be the one who lost 50 pounds who would win.

So in theory the heavier a person is when they start the more likely it is that they will lose more than lighter folks as they have more excess weight to lose.

But if you are deciding who has lost the most percentage of their whole body weight you get a different result.

For the one who started at 250 pounds and loses 50 pounds over the period you can divide 50 by 250 and multiply it by 100 to get a percentage number of 20% lost.
To make sure you have not made an error of the calculation you can double check your numbers by then working out what 20% of the start weight was (250 multiplied by 20 divided by 100 = 50 pounds lost).

For someone who started at 200 pounds and lost the 45 pounds the calculations would be:
                              45 divided by 200 multiplied by 100 = 22.5% lost
                              200 multiplied by 22.5 divided by 100 = 45 pounds lost

So in those 2 examples although both people might lose different numbers of pounds, the one who started out lighter and lost less pounds in number would have lost more in percentage terms than the heavier person and would be the winner.

Personally I think this is a fairer way to judge things, as it gives those with less weight to lose a more equal chance!

It should be fairly easy to set up a little spreadsheet with those calculations in it to work the results out automatically.
