Hi everyone! I’ve finally decided to start the Atkins diet as I’m trying to lose around 14 pounds for the summer. I’m kind of a picky eater and when it comes to eating meats and fats, I tend to turn them away. Anyway, I’m just wondering if it’s safe to eat low carb fruits, vegetables and other recommended foods (eggs, seeds, etc) and eliminate meats and animal fats and take protein supplements instead? Also, is it safe to just eat 1200 calories a day whilst on this diet? Thank you, guys!

It's possible to do a "vegetarian" Atkins, but your food choices will be very restricted. If you are willing to eat eggs, cheese, and fish/seafood, it will make it easier for you.Originally posted by GavinW View PostHi everyone! As for fats.....ATkins is a high fat diet. So if you can't stomach the idea of eating vegetable fats, like olive oil, corn oil, etc., then you Atkins might not be the ideal diet for you to do.
But I suggest you read the book before you undertake Atkins. Even if you do the vegetarian version, you really need to know what you are in for before committing yourself to it.
