  • Two Week Induction result and future plan

After 2 weeks of Induction for my 2 guys, and 3 for me, we had a family discussion about Atkins yesterday. My husband and I are only down 3 lbs each totally, both of us stayed the same at yesterday's weigh in. My son is down another 3lbs for a total of 10 lbs. (he is much heavier than we are, so it's understandable)

We discussed our eating habits, drinking water, planning menus and exercise , (or the lack thereof on the part of my 2 guys!). Ben (our son) suggested we have a "cooking day" to make up, portion out and freeze some meals so we have something quick to eat on days I work late. We also decided we aren't keeping good enough track of the amounts of cheese and cream we use, thereby likely having too many carbs. We decided to stay on Induction for another 2 weeks, being more careful of our "other" carb intake (as compared to vegies), and I will measure the salad vegies more carefully for them. (I do all the planning, purchasing and cooking. Thanks to Linda's Low Carb web site!!)

Even when I went to WW's, I always stalled at 170/175. So we'll see how another 2 weeks can help. At least I didn't go up!

It's nice that you can plan this together! Congrats for the weight lost.

I was looking over your menus in Journal Stats (the link to FitDay doesn't work, by the way) and although most of them look really good, there are a few things that could be tweaked to maximize your weight loss results.

The 12-15 g net carbs rule for vegetables was added by Atkins Nutritionals after Dr. Atkins' death. In his last book about the ANA (DANDR 2002), Dr. Atkins wrote we should eat 3 cups of vegetables per day, maximum 1 of which can come from the "Other Vegetables" list.

Cottage cheese is not allowed on Induction. It can only be introduced in OWL Rung 2.

I saw "pumpkin Jello with whipped cream" there. Is this Jell-O? Jell-O contains aspartame which is a staller for many people and it is therefore not on the list of "legal" sweeteners in Dr. Atkins' book.

FitDay now. To share your account there, first log in and in the tabs on top of the page go to Profile. As you go down the page you will see a big button that has "Make My Journal Public" written on it. Click on that and then click on "Save My Profile". A link to your public FitDay account should appear and then you can just copy that link and paste it here or in your Journal Stats.

Should I add my Fitday profile to my signature, Georgiana?
