I usually have a soda with dinner. Gets rid of my sweet tooth for the evening. I was drinking Pepsi ONE (Sweetened with Splenda but has 55mg of Caffeine per can). I have some Diet Caffeine Free Pepsi still in the fridge (Sweetened with Aspartame, no Caffeine obviously). I know the best way is no soda at all, but Dr. Atkins recommends Splenda but then goes on to say stay away from Caffeine. I guess I'm wondering which combination is better for me. Thoughts?

No, it doesn't get rid of your sweet tooth. It actually feeds it, so the guy is happy and goes to bed, but then it wakes up hungry again. Starve your sweet tooth, ignore it, and then it'll die.Originally posted by BBSwany View PostI usually have a soda with dinner. Gets rid of my sweet tooth for the evening.
It's bad habits and compromises that made most of us gain weight in the first place. Do yourself a favor and don't take them with your on your new way of eating.I guess I'm wondering which combination is better for me. Thoughts?"Get action. Seize the moment. Of the choices the one not available: Splenda without caffeine is the best obviously... Searching for sodas and flavored water powder that have sucralose and no caffeine will keep you busy
Of your two choices... I choose no caffeine (messes with blood sugar) with aspartame when spenda drinks are not available...

I would opt for this as well, as caffeine definitely messes with my blood sugar and makes me all kinds of miserable.Originally posted by msanjelpie View PostOf the choices the one not available: Splenda without caffeine is the best obviously... Do you know the "I'm Feeling Lucky" button on Google? Unless you feel lucky, be careful with aspartame because there is a reason why Dr. Atkins took it off the list of recommended sweeteners in the 2002 edition of the book -- he noticed that about a quarter of his patients were stalled by diet sodas sweetened with aspartame. So if you're in that unlucky 25%, you'll be really screwing up your weight loss by consuming aspartame sweetened products.Originally posted by LageNomAi View PostI would opt for this as well, as caffeine definitely messes with my blood sugar and makes me all kinds of miserable."Get action. My answer wasn't intended to imply that aspartame is a good thing to consume, and personally I avoid it. However, the question offered only two options from which to choose; I responded within the parameters of the question asked and chose what for me would be the lesser of two evils.Originally posted by Georgiana View PostDo you know the "I'm Feeling Lucky" button on Google? Diet Rite is a great alternative if you need one. In the beginning I would buy the 12 packs in all the flavors as a standby " if i needed it". I have always found and probably you will too, you won't need it. My kids drink it up and I save one can for when I feel like it. I still have that one can by my bed. You just will get out of the habit of wanting it. For me, it is a treat, I don't do it often, it seems to cause me no cravings when I do partake, you just have to experiment with your own body.Lisa

I'm training myself like I train dogs ... I found the Pepsi One I was looking for. I have one from time to time ... not every day tho. If I'm craving sweets, and I do sometimes, I drink water and don't have soda that day. When there's no craving I have one. I have not found any correlation between when I have one and when I crave sweets so far.My name is Barb
