  • left leg cramp: day 5 induction phase?

I have been in induction for 5 days. I am having leg cramps, side of my left feet hurts, it has been 3 days since it started. I think I am doing induction ok .

I am taking no more than 20 carbs. Didnt loose much though. Donno where I am doing wrong.

    I eat:

    BREAKFAST:
    3 EGGS SCRAMBLED

    LUNCH
CHICKEN/ BEEF GRILLED OR PAN FRY ( size of my palm size potion)
    1 CUP GREEN / LETTUCE
    CHEESE
    SOUR CREAM

    SNACK
    CHEESE

    DINNER
    BEEF OR CHICKEN
    SALAD

    DRINK LOADS OF WATER

    ** I DRINK DIET PEPSI
**I TAKE 4-5 PACKS OF SWEETNERS
    ** snack on cheese
** I work out free hand for 40 mins, weight training.

Will start on treadmill and am also planning to get an elliptical from friend.

Does exercise aid in reducing qeight in induction phase? I am desperate to loose.

    Please help!!!!!!

I added spinach to my diet daily and it helps with leg cramps. Are you taking vitamins? How much water are you drinking? You need to cut out the artificial sweeteners.

O.k. it looks like your only getting in 2 servings of vegetables, and you drink diet pepsi. How much diet pepsi are you drinking? 1 can, 2, 3, etc? On top of that you are taking 4-5 packets of sweetener. That's too much sugar right there. You are only supposed to have 3 (I think, I am not looking at the book right now, I'm at work) sweeteners max, that would include your soda intake as well. Also Atkins discourages the use of Aspartame because for a lot of people it makes them gain and triggers cravings.

As for the cheese and sour cream, how much do you use? Cheese is what 3 or 4 oz. at the most. And sour cream you have to watch that as well. If I were you I'd enter your meal in fit day if you haven't already. It looks like you might be retaining water because of sodium.

The water you're drinking, you said you drink tons, but how much? Are you drinking 80oz, 100oz? If you are drinking 64oz you are only drinking the minimum, that's only 4 regular sized bottled waters. You should be driking at least half your body weight, more if you are exercising.

As for the cramps in your leg, are you taking vitamins, when some people drink lots of water it can upset the balance of sodium and potassium and the lack of potassium in a lot of people causes leg cramps. Are you taking a multi-vitamin, if not do so, and please add in a Calcium tablet and a Potassium tablet. That should help.

Re: left leg cramp: day 5 induction phase?

Thank you so much for quick replies.

I started taking centrum from today. I try to eat 3 cups of lettuce and veges. Yes I think I was taking too much cheese. Thanks again for pointing out the sodium factor of retaining water, this didnot come to mind.

** I will cut back on the sweetners, stop it totally!
** I will make sure I drink minimum 10-15 glasses of water.
** can you please say which calcium and pottasium to take? I am 29 years old, mother of 1.
** Should I religiously do cardio for an hr with weight training? I was taking it easy, but I guess I should step it up.

Again I cannot stress how happy I am to get a reply, My husband is not supporting the Low carb - High fat diet at all. After trying yo yo diets for 5 years, I guess I cannot blame him either! I really do want this to work. This Atkins is the only diet that give me real food.

I will post as soon as I see changes. Thanks a million.

Just stick with the centrum - that should take care of the leg cramps... if you are still having them a week later you can supplement with additional magnesium...

Re: left leg cramp: day 5 induction phase?

Leg cramps are often related to a low Magnesium level. The sodium -potassium issue also contribute, but will also include irregular heart rate if they're that out of wack. In fact that's one of the first signs .The mulit vit is a good idea. especially during induction.
