Re: bad advice about atkins
I would read the book before making any decisions, Laura.
Some of us feel bad for a few days (or a week or so) when we start induction but that passes - and some of us feel fine even at the start, so you might not suffer at all
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Re: bad advice about atkins
I think I have more energy now that I did before I started. There is a short period of transition around day 3-4 but that is about it. Most people who will talk to you about Atkins will have no clue what Atkins is. They've heard rumours. Yes read up on it. And though we are allowed cheese in the induction phase it is limited.
Good luck on the plan.

You will find that you will have more energy & that you will feel so much better. I am an OR nurse & have no problems related to this way of eating in regards to my job.

Yeah for the first 5-6 days.Originally posted by laura1986 View Postbecause of how tired i usually feel and my headaches
Now I'm jumping out of my skin. I sleep 6 hours, up and ready to go! You can find me dancing in the shower, laughing at everything, talking to people I've never spoken to before. Always smiling too, which is completely different than my old sugar-eating, depressed self. I'm having a ton of fun, it's like being a teenager again!
If I wasn't so fat, I'd go bouncing on the bed. What I do:
Elliptical gym machine 1 hr Tue-Sun
At 320, switch to cycling on my Trek 500
2 filtered containers water/day
Daily salads/veggies
Goals:
Stop needing High Blood Pressure meds - DONE!
Workout in a XXXL shirt - DONE!
Workout in a XXL shirt
Workout in a XL shirt
270 on the scales

Re: bad advice about atkins
"how tired i usually feel and my headaches" these may be caused by being overweight or having blood sugar issues... Atkins will cure both of those maladies and you should feel better than ever... Don't stop before you even start. At least give it a try for a month and then make up your mind...

Re: bad advice about atkins
Im a migraine sufferer and I used to get them regularly maybe 3-4 times a week. This is my third month on atkins and I think I have only gotten a total of 6 migraines and 3 of them being on the first and second week of atkins of course due to the change in diet.
I feel great and not getting those headaches has really changed my life. I used to be afraid to do anything different because of the possibility of getting a headache.Atkins Startdate: Monday, March 9th, 2009

Re: bad advice about atkins
I used to have daily headaches, feel shattered the whole time and have the must god awful heartburn.
Then i started Atkins. Gone. Gone Gone.
I feel great, have tons of energy and the heartburn has vanished
"Atkins" has got a bad name with a lot of people who don't actually understand it, i bet if you said that you were cutting out some foods and eating meat and salad with some veg, people would give you a huge pat on the back.

Having read Chapters 1 to 11 (the first part of the book as well as the induction chapter) ought to allow you to start to understand the way of eating and get started
