Dr. Atkins had set either a limit on bacon, or prohibited it until later.
Seems so many people have a problem with:
(a) finding nitrate-free or sugar free bacon, and resort to eating whatever they can find just for the sake of eating it
(b) have a problem with portion control (I think it has something to do with the image of all the people on Atkins creating a breakfast menu out of a whole package of bacon and a dozen eggs) :yikes
(c) because of the sodium content in processed foods, they are supposed to be limited, and can cause many people to retain fluids, leading to disappointment.
There's lots of other choices for breakfast, even if it doesn't sound like a breakfast food (tuna, salmon, sardines, pork chop, chicken leg . . . )
