  • 1 week in and no weight loss

I'm 29, male and around 35 pounds over weight. I have been on induction 1 week and havent lost any weight at all. I have strictly followed the Induction food list with no cheating and have checked every label. I have drunk 8 glasses of water a day and massively upped my exercise plan but all to no avail.

What I have read is that maybe smoking [I smoke 10 cigarettes a day] and stress [which I am under alot of atm at work and at home] can make losing weight difficult.

Could these be the cause of my lack of weight loss ?

Could you post your average diet/supplements from a couple days this week? It makes it easier to identify any particular item that could be stalling you. If you've massively upped your exercise and that exercise includes lifting, then you could be putting on muscle, and new muscle adds water weight in addition to the muscle itself.

Cigarette smoking, while being absolutely terrible for you, actually aids weight loss. Stress does not.

I think the best indicator of weight loss for guys who are active is inches. Are you clothes feeling any different? Do yourself a favor and get a tape measure and some ketostix (so you can be sure you're actually in ketosis).

Re: 1 week in and no weight loss

        Thank you for the replies.

        Last 3 days food -

Weds - Breakfast - 2 eggs scrambled, 2 slices bacon
Lunch - 1 cup lettuce, 2 oz Mozzerlla, 1\2 cup cucumber, 1 pork chop
Dinner - 2 cups mixed lettuce salad, 1\2 cup mushrooms, serving of Roast pork

Drinks - just the listed amount water,
        Snacks - none

Thurs - Breakfast - 2 eggs fried, 2 slices bacon
Lunch - 1 cup lettuce, 2 oz Mozzerlla, pieces of cold roast pork
Dinner - 2 cups lettuce, 1\2 cup cucumber, chicken breast grilled

        Drinks - just water
        Snacks - none

        Friday - Breakfast - 2 eggs scrambled
Lunch - 1 cup lettuce, 1 and half tblsp of Newmans Own oil and Vinegar salad dressing, pieces of cold roast pork
Dinner - 2 cups lettuce, 2 tblsp Newmans Oil and Vinegar dressing, 1\2 cup cucumber, fried steak

        Drinks - just water
        Snacks - none

I jog for around 35 to 45 minutes an evening and then do around 30 minutes calisthenics. I take 1 multi vitamin a day.

My clothes do feel abit looser but not by a great deal. I do feel I have more energy now after rough days 4-5 where I was very tired.

I will invest in some ketostix and start to follow measurements more than scales.

OK, so you aren't not losing because you are close to your goal weight, we have ruled that out...

Re: 1 week in and no weight loss

The first week is largely a transition week, where you are basically getting into ketosis. The fat burning starts once you are in ketosis, not from day one of course. Having gotten your energy burst, I would say you have definitely reached ketosis and personally I would not bother with ketostix, but you might still want to. If you have started noticing looser clothing you ARE LOSING. Things are going in the right direction and you have nothing to worry about. You will likely see your scale results in the next week. To lose 10 percent of the weight you need to lose during induction, you would want to see a loss of 3.5 pounds in the next week. This is VERY possible, in the next week, I would even go so far as to say probable, now that you are securely in 'fat burning mode.'

                Keep on keeping on!

YES! I agree with every single thing that mom wrote. It is very encouraging that your clothes are looser and you're feeling well. The scale is really a poor gauge of fat loss. Clothes are much, much better! And I think your menu looked really good. Just make sure that you are eating enough.
