Re: tesco olives
You are in the UK right? In Europe they already subtract the fibre when they list carbs on the label. So the netcarbs is the ones on the label.

Re: tesco olives
That's very unfortunate. It means they are doing it wrong and are underestimating their CCLL and CCLM, since a food obviously cannot have more dietary fiber than total carbohydrates.Originally posted by laura1986thats what people keep sayin but its not true. u still have to do. well thats what people from UK have said who are doin atkins.
When you read the labels in the UK (and in most other European countries), the carbohydrates listed are net carbs and the fiber is listed separately.
Let's take an apple. In 100 g, it has 11.4 g net carbs and 2.4 g fiber, so a total of 13.8 g carbohydrates.
For this apple, the label in the US would say:
In the UK, the label for the same apple would say:Serving size: 100 g
Total carbohydrate .......... 14 gDietary fiber .......... 2 g
Sugars .......... 10 g
Serving size: 100 g
Carbohydrate .......... 11.4 g
of which sugars .......... 10.4 g
of which starch .......... 0.1 g
Fibre .......... 2.4 g"Get action. Seize the moment. Man was never intended to become an oyster."

Re: tesco olives
In the book in chapter 11 under a heading called Special Category Foods it says you can also eat ten to twenty olives

Re: tesco olives
According to the list for induction in DANDRSo you can choose one of these special foods to have each day as long as they don't affect your losing. so if you choose ollives then you can have them, but you do need to count the net carbs in them. As Liv said, in UK the fibre is not counted in the carbs on the label, so you count the 'total' carbs.
Special Category Foods
To add variety, each day you can also eat ten to twenty olives, half a small avocado, one ounce of sour cream or three ounces of unsweetened heavy cream, as well as two to three tablespoons of lemon juice or lime juice. But be aware that these foods occasionally slow down weight loss in some people, and may need to be avoided in the first two weeks. If you seem to be losing slowly, moderate your intake of these foods.
What numbers are on the label, Laura? Maybe we can help you work out how many carbs would be in 10 of them?Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Re: tesco olives
You can have 10-20 olives per day. Just remember they are in the "Special Category Foods", so they may "occasionally slow down weight loss in some people" (DANDR, Chapter 11). However, if you are losing "well" while eating 10-20 olives, then enjoy them.Originally posted by laura1986 View Posti have been lookin up olives cos we can have 10 a day is this right??"Get action.
