  • Disappointed with loss- day 5

Today makes day6 for me and so I weighed and measured. While I did not gain I seem to have only lost 1 half inch on my waist in that time. Also, my TOM just showed up over a week early out of nowhere. I'm hoping that may be part of the lack of weight drop yet. I haven't been weighing yet so as not to be discouraged with results and so when I finally hopped on the scale I'm not sure what I expected.

Is it normal to not lose for some people the 1st wk? Is it possible by day14 that I will show more loss?

As I understand it from your introduction post you do not have much to lose so unlike very over weight people pounds are not just going to fall off. I would have some patience here. The fact that your period showed up probably means your hormones are acting up and when that happens we retain water so I am thinking it is actually looking kind of good.
You are probably barely hit ketosis. Wait till the end of the induction period to assess. Keep going. Drink plenty of water and give that scale a break.

        From DANDR
If you start Induction before or during a menstrual period, it may take longer for weight loss to register.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

          Thank you for your support.

I did keep going today and I'm doing my best to take in 8 glasses of water daily. I reviewed the DADR induction chapter. The 2 things Im going to make special effort with this week are not drinking my black coffee with 1 packet splenda each am and doing my best to stay hydrated, even at work. As a crit care nurse sometimes getting out to chug 8oz plus the subsequent br break r impossible.

I've also tried to create a ticker (I hope it shows up here) to show my goal loss of 20 of the nearly 30 lbs I've put on in the past 10 years. As for my "stats" I am 5'3, I weigh just over 130lbs, and I'm nearing 30 years old.

Mate when it's totm just ignooooore the scales lol. Keep doing what you're doing on induction and when you come off your period I bet you'll notice a good weight loss

I'm on induction too and it's brought on an early period for me also... not that I'm bothered, the sooner that comes in induction the better as far as I'm concerned... damn hormones!

Of course your goal weight is between you and your doctor, but at 5'3", 100 lbs (if I read you right) seems like a very low figure, even if you are a small frame. If you try to lose more than your body can tolerate, it will fight you - be prepared!

Re: Disappointed with loss- day 5

I am currently 130 and was hoping to lose 20 and so about 110 as goal. Back in the day I ate lots of junk and could barely maintain 105 because I ran 40-50 miles weekly. Though I'm nearly 30 lbs heavier I know that 20 is a more realistic goal for this season of my life. Of course if I could just fit comfortably back into my pants and lose the tummy and butt fat the end number isn't really a concern for me. If I gain all sorts of muscle and look healthy. At 118 that would be ok. I can tell u 130 doesn't look great on me- despite being clinically ok according to doctors.

But if that 10 percent is true I guess I should be happy with 2-3 lbs at the end of the induction.
