  • Coke Zero

    Hi all
Im on my 2nd day of induction, and not finding it too hard (apart from everywhere I look I am noticing food more than ever before haha). I am drinking the 8 glasses of water a day, even though its hard work. But I was wondering are the new Zero drinks allowed on the induction eg, coke/fanta/7up zero?

Hmm well it's not using sucralose as it's sweetner. It uses aspartame.

check this out. I just stick to water and if I need flavour I squeeze a lemon into it

      Re: Coke Zero

Look at the ingredients - do you see a sweetener listed? If it is aspirteme, the answer is a resounding no - if it's Splenda, you can have it, but during induction it is generally not advised. If you do choose to have a Splenda sweetened drink, be sure there is no caffine and count the Splenda as 1 carb (you are allowed 3 carbs of Splenda a day on induction). Remember, getting rid of the "sweet tooth" is one of the major goals during induction.

      Good luck and keep posting!

You need to look for something made with sucralose (splenda). All of the Coke, Pepsi, etc products I have seen are made with aspartame which is known to make people stall.

I would say for induction to stay away from aspartame. After induction if you want to try it and see if it makes you stall, that would be up to you.

I feel your pain corcor. I love coke zero, but it's such a no-no - made with aspartame.

            Re: Coke Zero

Even if you find pop sweetened with splenda - remember that 8oz = 1 daily sweetener = 1 carb. So if you aren't having anything else with splenda in it, 3 cups is the max per day.

I agree with Jeannette - if you can do (at least) induction without any sweets, you will be much better off. Its amazing how fast you stop craving sweets if you avoid them altogether.

Yes, I used to be addicted to diet Coke. I still can't believe I gave that up and don't miss it.

I can get soda sweetened with splenda easily enough but still try not to drink that. Mainly for the sweetness factor but also the water factor. I find if I drink soda, I drink less water. At the end of the day, which one makes me feel better.

Just once in a while, I will have a soda that is sweetened with splenda.

The other thing I say to myself (not just about soda) is that for now I am choosing to not have this and find a better alternative. It doesn't mean I will never have it again..but for today I am not having it. That helps me.

induction is the time to rid yourself of old habits and to retrain your tastebuds and your mind to eat foods good for you. Your water should be the most important drink you put into your system -- you're only drinking 64 ounces a day - that is the minimum amount .... you can add a lemon or lime slice to your water for flavor but that's it.

Once you are out of induction and have done it cleanly you might take a look at Diet Rite - it is made with Splenda and comes in a few flavors. I use to drink 5 - 6 cans of that a day but after going through induction I haven't been able to drink 1 can since.....once you get the sweet taste out of your mouth you will find out how wonderful food really tastes. Don't "drink" your carbs, eat them.

                Good luck.

Are you eating 3 cups of veggies every day? It makes for less meat & cheese
