  • DAY 1...im scared!

Hi Everyone, hope you are all well.
Well, ive recoved about 80% from my bad flu i had a few weeks back, im feelin a lot better, and more determinded, as i feel even heavier after beeing in bed for 3 weeks and eating lots of food i liked to cheer me up!!! ohh it was bad! But today i went Atkins shopping and filled my kitchen with induction foods.I started today. Im a little scared though, as you know ive been trying induction for the last 6 weeks and fell off every time due to cheating and not having motivation.I want to get past that, but im scared of letting myself down again.Any wise words of wisdom??? :hug thankyou

My best advise is keep the induction foods handy at all times. Do not go out to eat at all at least for the first week. Avoid situations where there will be temptation untill you get the cravings in check. Log all of your food intake. Fitday is wonderful for this. Everytime you feel like grabbing something illegal talk yourself down and eat something legal and fatty. Most important, when you ar feeling bad about how you look or feel do not grab something illegal instead tell yourself you are doing this WOE to end this. Look at the Before and After pics on ha . Read the success stories. Do anything and everything you can to get through the first few days and it will be easy from there. :hug

I also learned the hard way that splenda or anything sweet triggers my cravings so I avoid it like the plague!

      Hi gill :wave
Glad to hear you are feeling well enough to start induction!

Make sure you have plenty of legal snacks for if/when you get an attack of the munchies :yikes
hardboiled eggs, meat for rollups, cooked chicken legs/thighs, celery and mayo, basically anything legal that you like to eat.
Then instead of feeling deprived of carby snacks you can treat yourself to something yummy.

Oh - and drink your water!!

Difficult to type with my fingers crossed but am crossing them for your success :hug
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Today is only day 8 for me and if you see my post about yesterday, I almost fell off.

What is keeping me on is the fact that I am eating such high fat foods that if I start eating cake and that yumminess, I'm going to probably DOUBLE my weight rather than lose any.

I can gain weight so darn fast it's scary. So after having my filet mignon with butter and bleu cheese last night, I figured no matter how much it enticed me, I was better off without it and my heart was probably better off without it.

I know it won't work for anyone, just how I felt last night. It was the only thing keeping my fork out of the cake!

my key is not getting hungry. as soon as i feel it coming on, i go get something to eat. if i get to hungry i cheat. I to have been trying induction a lot for the past few months. after the first 2 days i know i'm burning my own fat and i always ask myself "why would i want to waste all the work ive done the past 2 days"

and think....it you just didn't cheat i bet you would be 20 pounds thinner by now.

          i know i would....

The thing I noticed about myself is that I DEFINITELY need to have the foods planned that I am going to eat for lunch or whatnot or at least have things already made that I can choose from. When it comes to lunch time and I don't have an idea in my head of what to eat or anything readily at my disposal I panic and that's when I'm most likely to choose something that I shouldn't (not at home because I have Atkin's proofed the house). Good luck, you can do this. You already have a great inspiration, this board. It is the best ever! At any time you feel weak or that you can't do it, come here, read some posts, or post one yourself about how you are feeling.

                A good suggestion !!

We were at a car boot sale on Sunday and (although I had eaten breakfast) by 12 noon I was really getting quite hungry with all the walking around but the only food concessions were not a good choice.

However I spotted a cheese vendor and bought a lump of brie which we ate while looking at the stalls. We did get a few odd looks, as most people were eating baguettes or bacon sarnies. but so what!!

It helped me stay on track till we could find a restaurant and order an Atkins friendly meal a couple of hours later!

                  Hi Gilly, :wave

I'm glad you're feeling better, it seems everyone I know these days has some sort of flu or nasty bug - myself included.

I'm going to save you a pep talk because I think you know that when it comes to your ability to succeed in this WOL I don't doubt it one bit, not one single person here does. So that said I don't think you need luck, because this has nothing to do with luck - it has to do with belief.

Belief in this WOL a way of life that has been making peoples most cherished dreams come true for over 30 years. A belief in the mountain of evidence that shows Atkins improves every single aspect of your physical and emotional well being. A belief in the countless walking, breathing, beautiful examples of Atkins that surround you on this site and off in the "real world" as well.

Most of all a belief in yourself.

Gilly, Fear and insecurities are like ghosts, it's just the thought of them that scares us, when in fact there's nothing there at all. If you consider you're fear and insecurity like you would a parasite, one that takes over mind and forces you to make self destructive choices maybe you'll see things differently.

For instance, instead of feeling scared about trying Induction again - why not feel excited? and you have every right to be. You can say to yourself "I'm starting a new journey to a new and better life, in a body I'll be proud of and never feel ashamed of again"

You can not only say that, you can believe it. You can believe it because it's true. And every time that Parasite whispers at the back of your mind things like "you're not worth it" "You're not good enough" "you'll fail you always do"
You know something now about that parasite - you know it's a lie.

It doesn't matter where the parasites come from maybe cruel things were said to us when we were young, and we grew up to believe them. Maybe it was one or a succession of traumatic events that left this parasite within us, worming it's way into every aspect of our lives. It doesn't matter, not really, not when we know how to destroy it.

You can destroy it a little bit every day. Every time you're faced with a challenge or doubt that parasite wants more than anything for you to give in, to weaken and to hurt yourself. But you can fool it at it's own game, you can switch the message and the belief around because you can say "Oh no you don't, not this time, not anymore, not ever again"

All you have to do is refuse to give in.

In doing that the parasite and all it's lies will begin to wither and die. And one day, when you're waking up in the body you've dreamed of, in the best health you have ever been in those evil whispers of the long dead parasite will have been dead for so long that even if you try... you won't be able to remember them.

                  Peter

If you are hungry then eat. It will fade in a few days and you will start to eat less but you will fail if you are going through your days hungry :hug
