    Re: Day 11 and Ready to Give Up!

    I put in several days worth of food into fitday and then when I went back it was gone. It took so long to put in food that I haven't had the opportunity to put everything in again. This is an example of yesterdays menu with portions.

    Breakfast -- 10:30 (got up around 9:30 and exercised then ate)
    1 cup of shredded lettuce with 2 hardboiled eggs and real bacon bits (no sugar added) oil and vinegar dressing
    2 thin pork chops cooked in olive oil (not sure about the ounces)

    Lunch
    3 scrambled eggs
    3 strips of bacon
    2 sausage patties
    3 slices of tomato

    Snack
    1 boiled egg white

    Dinner
    1 cup of lettuce
    1/2 cup of tomato
    3/4 cups ground beef
    3 tbs homemade salsa (tomato, oregeno, cilantro, lime juice, garlic powder)

    By eating what I did yesterday I was full all day and actually had to make myself eat dinner. I am taking a complete multivitamin. When I weighed yesterday morning (after exercising, but before I cooked breakfast) I had gained two pounds. I'm not weighing today because I am completly discouraged.

    I guess this diet is more technical than I thought it would be. I have a difficult time keeping up with all the amounts, percentages, etc. I know I'm staying under 20 carbs a day. I try to get things that do no have sugar in it, but if it does it is listed as <1 gram or below <1 and then I limit it (like my blue cheese dressing).

    Thanks for all the comments. This is really helpful.

      Chicken breast filets with rib meat, water, seasoning (salt, sugar, food starch-modified, maltodextrin, spices, dextrose, autolyzed yeast extract, hydrolyzed [corn
      gluten, soy, wheat gluten] proteins, garlic powder, paprika, chicken fat, chicken broth, natural flavors (plant and animal source), caramel color, polysorbate 80,
      xanthan gum, onion powder, extractives of paprika), modified potato starch, and sodium phosphates.

      Are you kidding me, corn (sugar) modified food starch (sugar) maltodextrose, dextrose (sugar) wheat gluten, potato starch (all basic sugars) no wonder it tastes good......

        That is not their new girlled chicken that they are advertising. The new grilled chicken is on the bone which obviously couldn't contain rib meat. What you are referring to is fillets. I had chicken on the bone which has different spices.

          Someone posted the fillet I was just commenting but I have found that eating out can be disaster when it comes to Atkins. Too many hidden ingredients. I know it is hard to always cook at home but in my humble opinion its better to cook your own or take atkins safe snacks with you for a hunger attack than risk blowing your induction as I did just last week "totally by mistake"......Good luck , stick with it you can do it.

            Re: Day 11 and Ready to Give Up!

            Your gain is very likely a little water from the bacon and sausage. It is not a fat gain so quickly. Your advice to eat so much more may or may not be the problem. You last menu shows a substantial amount of food. I would definitely gain weight on this amount and would feel stuffed all day. Start using fitday. Figure out what your BMR should be an kind of keep near that for your daily calorie intake. You need to find a happy medium between not eating enough and overeating.

                Re: Day 11 and Ready to Give Up!

                Thanks for checking in. I am now back to my original starting weight after gaining 2 pounds. Today is day 15 and I need to decide if I should continue with induction or if I should move on. How do you make this decision?

                  Re: Day 11 and Ready to Give Up!

                  it's a personal decision -- OWL rung 1 is 5 net carbs of vegetables. The first week you add them on 3 days....if you don't have any trouble with that vegetable (not gaining weight or water weight in your hands and feet) then that veggie is OK -- the next week you can eat that veggie any day you want to....try another veggie the next week for 3 days ... when you have enough veggies tried out and you decide you want to move on go to Rung 2 - dairy....same thing...with each rung you add 5 net carbs daily and try the new item 3 times in the week.

                  We can't tell you when to move on - that's up to you, but if you are having trouble loosing weight it may help to move on - many of us lost more as we added back foods.

                    Ok, so I finally went to fit day and entered my food for today. I hope that it does not disappear again! I wanted to give my percentages so everyone can comment on them and tell me how I need to improve.

                        Re: Day 11 and Ready to Give Up!

                        Ugh! I did it again. It's been a long day.

                        Calories = 2064
                        Fat = 65%
                        Protein = 32%
                        Carbs = 2%

                        I'm assuming now I am taking in too many calories and too much fat. Someone please give your opinion. I'm really trying to get this right. Today is day 15 and no weight loss.

                        Thanks!!!

                          Re: Day 11 and Ready to Give Up!

                          I started at 285 (I'm 5'2) and 1500 calories/day, min 30 minutes exercise 5x/week. Its working for me, I've lost 30lbs. It does depend on the person, and how much exercise you are getting. Reducing the fat/protein will reduce the calories and help the percentages as well.

                          Fitday is a lot of work - I used it almost every day for the first few weeks, but now that I have the hang of Atkins, I only enter in a couple times a week, especially when I try a new recipe, or when I go up a rung/add carbs.

                          I still plan my meals several days in advance, but I am more confident now in making last minute changes without consulting the menu or fitday...it comes with time and practice. Stick with it - it really does work.

                            Thanks for replying. I am using the elliptical about 5 to 7 times a week for 30 minutes. Today was not a typical day for me. I will try to put my info in to fitday for the next couple weeks. So what should my percentages be?

                              65% fat / 30% protein / 5% carbs...

                              higher fat is better than lower fat - lower protein is better than higher protein - lower carbs is better than higher carbs if the amounts aren't exactly dead on...

                                Your numbers look fine to me

                                You can post a link to your actual fitday entries if you like so people can see amounts etc and advise you.

                                To get the link you need to go to your 'profile' page on fitday and scroll down to click on the 'make my journal public' button.
                                Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
