  • am i on the right track?

Ive been on thee induction for 2 days now
this has been my meal plan:

    Day 1:
Meal 1 - Steak with 1 cup of salad
Meal 2 - Chicken breast with 1 cup of salad (inc small portion of cheese)
Meal 3 - Pork Sausages with 1 cup of salad
    Day 2:
Meal 1 - Pork Sausages with 1 cup of salad
    Meal 2 - Mackerel(fish) with 1 cup of salad
Meal 3 - Chicken breast with 1 cup of salad (inc small portion of cheese)

    I havent read the atkins book but ive been sticking to the rules of induction guide found on this forum;

and have been sticking to the acceptable foods list
and have been drinking 2 Litres of water a day

Ive only just heard about the 60/35/5 fats-protein-carb ratio im supposed to stick to but ive got no idea how to know if been close to that, or how to eat foods close to that!
I think i might be eating too much protein.

Re: am i on the right track?

your meals look ok. are you just eating lettuce for your salad or adding other veggies? lettuce has very little nutritional values, where as adding things like cucumbers, radishes, mushrooms, and peppers will add not only more nutrients but also a little flavor to a rather drab lettuce salad. also you can also have things off the "other veggie list". (ie. onions, tomatoes, green beans, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli) remember that if you eat off the other list that you should only eat no more than 1 cup, and reduce the salad veggies to 2 cups in a day.

i did notice that you are only eating 3 meals a day and no snacks, that's fine if you can tolerate that, but Dr. Atkins says in the book not to go more than 6 waking hrs without eating. if you do need a quick snack between meals, that is okay. hard boiled eggs, tuna salad or veggies with ranch are just a few good snacks.

as far as figuring up the fat/protein/carb ratios many people on the board, including myself us fitday to help with that. it's a great tool, here's the link: FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal

    hope this helps!!! best wishes!!!!

Fitday is the way to go if you want to keep an eye on those percentages for sure.
I also thought you absolutely are on the right track. Good job.
Are you having any fats with your salad or with your chicken?

      Good job on the water.

nope Liv i havent been having any fats when ive been eating the chicken and salad, what would you suggest adding to that meal?

Also regarding moniegail's post the meals ive been eating have been pretty big and just about filled me everytime, i havent needed snacks at all but if i ever do ill have some eggs Also my salad has been mixed with just about everything you mentioned.

Looking good Jack! But like liv said, you DEFINITELY need to add some fat. Cook your meats with butter/oil. How about salad dressing? Having oil-based dressing on your veggies assists in absorbing the nutrients in the veggies more efficiently.
