    Hi all!
On day 3 and it looks as though there's already been a few slip ups!

Day 1: OH had yogurt after dinner (didn't throw them out fast enough)
Day 2: Based on a tip found online, we both had a cracker with cheese before bed (supposed to encourage seratonin production as it drops once you start Atkins). Also, I had an Advantage bar and he inadvertently ate sweetcorn at lunch as part of a chicken salad.

I'm worried we won't get into ketosis and stat dropping weight, and that this will be viewed as a failure and abandoned entirely too soon for real results.
    How bad are these mistakes?
If they aren't repeated can we still be on schedule or does this mean we need to start over?

    Also –*side rant:
Everyone has "tips" on doing Atkins better. Mother in Law, Brother in Law, co-workers, vegetarian friends... even OH, my Atkins partner!

He's left the reading, meal planning / cooking and list making to me for the duration of Induction... but that only means he's always asking what's allowed, rationalising eating what's not on the list or eating more than recommended on the list.

    Very. VERY frustrating!

You know they are not allowed since you put them on the "slip ups" list, so drop these foods and follow the Rules of Induction to a tee.

If you do it correctly, you will lose weight. But give the plan and yourself a fair chance and do your best to stick to the advice in the book, not to whatever is written on whatever websites. You never know who writes that stuff and how informed that person really is about Atkins.

It's good if you've learned something from them. It was only two bad days, right? Two days more of Induction won't be hard to do. You really don't need to "restart" anything --- just do two extra days of Induction and you'll be fine.

He's left the reading, meal planning / cooking and list making to me for the duration of Induction... but that only means he's always asking what's allowed, rationalising eating what's not on the list or eating more than recommended on the list.
Remember you are doing this for you and your attitude and results on Atkins should not depend on anyone else's. That being said, maybe you can manage to get your friend more involved into this --- plan your exercise together, discuss the meal beforehand, print the list of Induction acceptable foods list and give a copy to your friend, or simply tell him what bothers you. If he is not truly interested in sticking to Atkins and making it a lifestyle, he is just putting a break on your progress, and not supporting you. When you two decided to "buddy up", I'm sure it was a supporting friend you were looking for, not someone who'll make your new way of eating more difficult.

So what were your meals on the third day? Was it a super clean, by the book day? Any exercise you did?

Lesson learned on that one, I'm currently suffering through a horrible headache / nausea spell which tells me no cracker is a good cracker!

Very true. I've decided to make it as clear as possible what's allowed and not. He wants to make this work, but there's a lifetime of bad habits to break (including cheating on diets) that I know won't change over night!

So far, so good –*breakfast was smoked salmon & cream cheese rolls, lunch was tuna & mayo with a hard boiled egg and a string cheese snack. Dinner tonight is grilled porkchops and a broccoli / cauliflower mash with butter & cream plus a few asparagus spears followed by a mile walk in the park!
