  • majorly went off track but back starting today

well i was doing pretty good on extended induction...staying on track with foods, exercising, drinking plenty of water, etc. however i majorly fell off the wagon the past couple of days - ate double chocolate brownies, peanut butter cookies and a piece of stromboli. they all tasted SO GOOD but truthfully i felt so guilty and unhappy about my choices. in evaluating what made me go "off track" a big part of it is that I was planning the meals/snacks I was going to have on a menu and the past week I did not do that. i am restarting induction, doing it as clean as possible with the exception of my coffee.

any of you veterans...any suggestions to help through moments of extreme weakness?

First stop right there! Take a deep breath, meditate for a bit, take a walk alone, whatever it takes. Rethink it. Reread the book. My book is completely marked up with post-it notes so that I can turn to the proper pages. When you do mess up like this, start over immediately and the damage won't be nearly as bad as going on a three week binge.

Also, I read about book once called Beck's diet solution. I am not endorsing another diet at this site by any means. It is a book intended to go along with whatever way of eating you choose. It is not a diet book so much as a motivational tool. One of the things that she talks about is your "resistance muscle". Meaning, work on this muscle just as you would any other muscles. Do it every day. Walk by the doughnut shop, look in the window, say no, and walk away proud. I am not saying to torture yourself and bring it home, but little ways to allow yourself to say no. Do it everyday and all the time. You will get stronger and stronger as that "muscle" gets fitter and fitter. It becomes easier to say no.

    That is the idea anyway.
