  • Ok, I'm starting to think that EVERYTHING has carbs. Please help inform me.

So I've read now that even eggs and chicken have carbs. Better to count 1 carb for eggs, huh?

And the chicken question, I have heard that sugar can be added to it but when I look on the ingredients list of chicken I buy, there's not ever any ingredients anywhere on the package. Does this mean there is no sugar added?

    Argghh I'm getting frustrated.

If you buy fresh chicken from the meat department, and there are no "ingredients" listed - that's 'cause its just chicken - count no carbs.

I count .6 for a large egg, you can count 1 if you like.

The main thing is this: sugar and grains have carbs in them - most processed foods have one, the other or both - so yes, most "foods" have carbs in them. The only true carb-free food is fresh meat (or some frozen - check the labels!).

The goal is to get 1/2 your daily carbs from veggies, and the others from grain/sugar-free foods such as whipping cream, eggs and cheese. Splenda counts as a carb too. Don't forget to only eat foods on the acceptable list for induction - including all of the ingredients in processed foods.

I know its crazy, right? I never really thought about the carbs in coffee, but they are there and need to be counted! Wild, huh?

Cheese carbs also. Yes pretty much everything.

      But its good to know!

If you use Fitday (I do, its great!) remember to subtract the fibre from the total carbs. We only count Net Carbs (total-fiber) on Atkins.
