  • Why can't I have a full 3 cups of salad like the serving size says on the package?

So I keep hearing you can't have more than a cup of veggies at a time, yes? I had a salad today and more like 2-3 cups of lettuce in the salad. I've done that a couple times since starting Induction on Atkins. Is this ok? It says 3 cups is only 2-3 carbs anyway.

    Thanks.

    It does get confusing.

The idea is to spread your carbs out over the course of the day. Also, while you want the majority of your carbs to come from the salad and veggies, you don't want that to be your only source of food. So, you have a percentage of fat/protein/carbs.

When you go to OWL, rung 1 you can add in 5 more grams of induction friendly veggies/salad. Trust me, by the time you do that, you are looking for other options than salad otherwise you feel like that is all you eat! Certain veggies give you more carbs in a smaller/denser amount.

You can try using fitday to track your precentages. (www.fitday.com). There are some helpful posts on the forums about using fitday.

Hope that helps a little. We have very helpful moderators with a wealth of information too.

According to the book, you are limited to 3 cups of Induction vegetables daily. The 3 cups maybe be 3 cups from the "Salad" vegetable list or 2 cups from the "Salad" vegetable list and 1 cup from the "Other" vegetable list.

The idea is to spread your carbs out through the day, and eat them with some fat/protein in order to avoid blood sugar spikes from the carbs.

That is why eating your three cups of veggies spread out during the day is recommended, less carbs all at once. Eating them with fat/protein slows down digestion, which also helps avoid blood sugar spikes.
