All help, support and advise appreciated along my journey.

Also, if I could bag myself a buddie to venture along my path with, it would be the best bonus ever. Any takers???

Welcome to ADBB and induction eating, Rainbowsprite

It is good to have another member who lives this side of the 'pond'

Where in Europe are you located?
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Check out our Low Carb Recipes website and add to it!!

Re: Started induction today (5th July 09)

hey! =) Im new to this place and started induction a few days ago (well not induction entirely, but close to 20 net carbs/day, and ive never even thought of a low carb diet before so im all new to carb counting) and was doing really well tell last night... 4th of july = ... and after quite a few strong carb packed alcoholic beverages those 5 pizzas that the group picked up 2 hours beforehnd (that i hadn't touched!) didnt seem like such a bad idea anymore and i ended up eating 4 slices!! bah! like the drinking wasn't bad enough!

so Im going to start up again tomorrow, because I seriously believe this diet is going to be the one that works for me and ill just try to think of it as a holiday splurge and not let it get me down

I hope we can become good supportive friends!

(sorry i went a little crazy with the emoticons lol)

Re: Started induction today (5th July 09)

Today is my first day of Induction as well. This is my second time on Atkins. The last time I lost 50lbs very quickly and easily. My problem was I stayed on induction until I reached my goal weight and then went back to my "normal" eating patterns. Needless to say the weight came back on me.

I might stay on induction a little longer then 2 weeks but I fully intend to work my way through all the stages and view this as a lifestyle change instead of a "diet".

You can consider me on the list of buddies doing induction together.

                  Mike

The best thing to do Shelly is to stay off the scales until the end of induction -- there are many variables to make your weight go up and down during each day and from day to day....

Have you read the DANDR 2002 book or seen the acceptable food list? It sounds like a few of you posting here should re-read the induction stickies and make up your minds to do everything possible not to cheat again -- I know it's hard but we can't loose the weight for you - that's something only you can do and only when you have the right frame of mind.

Good luck to all of you.

Here is the information I give to all newbies when they introduce themselves in the Spotlight forum -- please read it and follow it --

*Eat a variety of meats, cheeses and vegetables. Also make sure you get your fats, carbs and protein in daily.
*Drink plenty of pure water (nothing added ***– see below for more info).
*Take your supplements and exercise – that’s the plan.
*Stay away from the shakes and bars (they aren’t legal on induction) and any processed or chemically enhanced foods – we eat whole foods.

Check the stickies (information posts) at the top of this page – it’s a condenced version of the DANDR book. http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-diet-14-day-induction/

Make sure you drink a minimum of 64 ounces of water each day, including:
                    Filtered water
                    Mineral water
                    Spring water
                    Tap water

*** Crystal Lite, sugar free teas, sugar free kool-aid & diet sodas do not count they are chemically enhanced and most include aspartame (also not allowed on Atkins) – PURE water is the only thing that counts toward your daily water intake. If you need a “flavor” in your water float a lemon or lime slice on top of your water

The recipe sites are a helpful way to make your meals more enjoyable – just make sure you use Induction Recipes to begin with.

                      Hello
Welcome to the AWOL and the board. How are you doing on Induction so far? I agree with Imagood1 with staying off the scales until you have completed the 14 days induction. Ive just re-started Atkins and after my 14 day induction i was pleasantly surprised to see i had dropped 9lbs. This board is a wonderful place to pick up tips and get good advice. Visit often!

Re: Started induction today (5th July 09)

Hello, sorry I haven't popped in for a wee while.

Thanks for all your lovely support messages and experiences.

I wish each and everyone of you all the very best on your journeys and hope we can continue to help each other out.

For me: So far, so good.

I'm slowly figuring out what I should be doing with the counting of carbs etc and I feel pretty damn positive at the moment too.

I'm a little tired but less sluggish.
I have had a few headaches but nothing a quick pill couldnt fix (only if it was that bad).
I have a coldsaw on my top lip, but I have some cream.

All in all, I can safely say that I believe that I can get through this 'Induction', with very few/No more set backs.

How's everyone getting along so far????
