  • I am doing this for my horse.

    I own a young friesian gelding that I will start to ride next year. It would be much better for both of us if I lose 30 pounds.

    Also, I am giving myself a goal of losing 20 lbs by Oct. 19. I am going scuba diving in the Solomon Islands and want to be fit - and fit in my wetsuit.

    So far, I have made a few mistakes - I have been drinking Ocean Spray Cran-Lemonade in water because it had no carbs - but does have aspartame. I will stop drinking that.

    I also drink two cups of coffee a day with milk. This is an addiction, no doubt. I think I can cut this back to one cup a day with cream.

    This is what I have done so far:
    Day One

    Coffee with milk

    string cheese

    smoked turkey

    ocean spray cran-lemonade;

    plenty of water;

    black olives in olive oil;

    mushrooms in butter

    broccoli in butter

    raw mushrooms

    Day two

    coffee with milk

    bacon

    smoked turkey

    avocado

    black olives

    cheddar cheese

    ocean spray crangrape

    string cheese

    brocolli with cheddar and butter

    Re: I am doing this for my horse.

    the cran-grape and cran-lemonade are NOT allowed on induction -- they contain high frutose corn syrup.

    This is the ingredients list from the cran-grape:
    Ingredients: Filtered Water, Grape Juice From Concentrate, High Fructose Corn Syrup, Cranberry Juice From Concentrate, Fumaric Acid, Natural Flavors, Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C).

    Check the acceptable food list -- also here is a list of what drinks ARE allowed. Have you read the 2002 Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) book? Have you looked at the acceptable foods list? http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-diet-14-day-induction/

    By "plenty of water" do you mean a MINIMUM of 64 ounces of PURE water? Because that is the MINIMUM you should be drinking.

    Make sure you drink a minimum of 64 ounces of water each day, including:
    Filtered water
    Mineral water
    Spring water
    Tap water

    *** Crystal Lite, sugar free teas, sugar free kool-aid & diet sodas do not count they are chemically enhanced and most include aspartame (also not allowed on Atkins) – PURE water is the only thing that counts toward your daily water intake. If you need a “flavor” in your water float a lemon or lime slice on top of your water

      Re: I am doing this for my horse.

      I forgot to add the link for the cran-grape you drank -- it has 40 carbs and 40 grams of sugar per glass!! NOT EVEN CLOSE to being a legal drink.

        Thank you Carole.
        The CranGrape is the sugar free powder not the liquid. No HFCS. But yes, Aspartame.

        I have read the book, now, and realize that Aspartame is not allowed.

          It sounds like you have found the "little mistakes" in your menu. With those fixes it looks really good! Best wishes,
