Where's your veggies?!!! Atkins is not just meat and eggs!

You need to sit yourself down, and read Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (version 2002, DANDR for short).

Please don't go into this uneducated...you're only minimizing your chances for success by not understanding how to do Atkins.

The book will give you the 'why' behind the diet, and it's important to know that part of it.

There are resources on this board (like the FAQ forum on the main page, and all the sticky's in the various forums) that you should also take the time to read, but do get the book!!

We can help you in terms of support, but you have to read the book yourself. :yes

And don't forget your water and exercise along with those veggies. They're all part of this woe!

oh and a tidbit on the eggs - it is possible to have too many eggs. I try to restrict myself to 3-5 eggs per day (or less depending on my cravings). Plus for me, I get tired of eggs really quickly, with the exception of hard boiled & deviled - I could eat those all day everyday, so have some variety! Eat some spinach with your bacon instead!

And yes crab is DEFINTELY ok on Atkins, and highly recommended by yours truly since its sooooo good!

            hi there

welcome martin - congratulations for starting induction. you are going to do great! :nod :wave

            Delicious Crab Quiche

spread crab on the bottom of a glass baking dish
(i like to spray a carb free cooking spray on the glass first)
            mix 3 eggs
with a tiny splash of cream
mix with a hand mixer and then pour over the crab
top with any induction friendly veggies you like
and 1/4 cup of swiss cheese

            bake until light and puffy

            note*
if you want it super puffy, separate the eggs first then whip the whites
            until fluffy

            note2*
when doing induction you need count the cream and the cheese faithfully.

              thanks everyone!

I just had dinner, i had a chicken fillet and beef burger, with a tomatoe and some salad. I try to do weights everyday as a form of exercise. I seem to be feeling quite tired now, but thats OK. Well, im off to do my weights.

              Thanks for the ideas!

Hi Boyonthehill :wave it's great to welcome another Brit on board :yes

Is it fresh crab you were asking about or tinned?
Fresh is fine and just plain crabmeat in cans ought to be OK too - but do check the labels for any extra ingredients or fillers!

Good on you for doing your exercise too :joy
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Thank you Elizellen. Yes it is fresh crab, my mum buys them alive and cooks them, so im sure there will be no additives. Thanks!
