  • Day 2 induction...

...and its a case of 'So far, So good'.

I had an awful headache yesterday evening, so I took 2 painkillers, sipped down the water and pushed on with 2 hours worth of ironing, watch a film, went to bed and feel fine today.

I read on another thread about someone being 'Freezing', which is how I was feeling late yesterday afternoon & evening too. I put it down to my body withdrawing from all the 'Crappy Carbs'.

I'm a little worried about going overboard with the 'Scale watching/weighing', and was wondering how you guy's/gal's manage your weight tracking:- Daily, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly??

Also, would you suggest that measuring with a 'Tape measure' is a more positive (non-crazy ) way to track the first month or so??

(Hubbie is back from overseas today and he may also try the Atkins too, fingers crossed as the extra support would be a treat)

I get can get pretty obsessed with the scale myself, lol. I have been real good lately..I weigh about once a week. I know many ppl that weigh daily and find it encouraging, but they are careful to not let any water weight bring em down. I think you should do what you think you can handle. Measuring I always recommend! I just measured myself today and will wait a month to re-meaure. Good luck to you!

I am one of those who takes a 'scientific' interest in a daily hop on the scales rather than an 'emotional' one, so I do check my weight every day at the same time/same clothes.

however I treat the daily downs, ups and standstills as just statistics - not as something that will upset my day if the movement is not downward

By doing it this way I do not get upset by the monthly fluctuations caused by being a woman, or the daily fluctuations caused by no identifiable reason at all.

If I was one of the many people who find a justification of choosing Atkins as a way to lose weight only by seeing a drop in weight every day; who start to panic and wonder what they are doing wrong if they see a jump of several pounds when they know they have been following the rules; or even decide to eat off-plan because they are not seeing a loss every day then I definitely would NOT weigh daily, but leave it till after the 14th day for induction then maybe one a week or fortnight thereafter.

Only you know what category you are in, so it is your decision.

As for whether to take measurements, I would say 'Definitely, Yes!!'

Many people find they lose inches when they are gaining pounds or staying still - we have had members on the 6 week exercise challenges who lost very few pounds but lost several dress sizes.

Losing inches is a better gauge of losing FAT than losing pounds

If you find fiddling about with a tape measure is not for you then find a very tight set of clothes and keep trying them on to see how your body shape is changing.

The 'Trousers of Truth' or 'Dress of Destiny' do not lie!!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

          Re: Day 2 induction...

Thanks for dropping by, it means a lot knowing that there is plenty of support out there.

So, I took the plunge yesterday and measured myself, not as bad as I had thought.
I have weighed myself each morning since Saturday, that is just to see if I am heading in the right direction, which I am and I will cut back on weighing*scales* after my first week.

          DAY 3 - already!!

Feel pretty ok, I woke with a massive Coldsaw on my top lip though, maybe my body expelled the badness - hee hee.
I feel a little tired, nothing drastic but a lot less sluggish than before. I find that weird as I'm eating meats, cheese etc.

Drinking plenty of water each day (still having my 2 cups of coffee a morning) so as not to get bunged up. TMI* when I do go, its rather heavy - I would imagine that's from the change?!

Elizellen, I have those trousers and that dress...It gives me the motivation I need when they get loose.
