  • getting confused over carbs!

    HI

    im loosing - 16lbs so far.. 3 wks induction, but I was doing some reading today (Atkins, just making sure im doing it right!) and now ive confused myself over carbs..

    well im eating 3 meals a day.. ike this:

    2 eggs (omlette)
    1 thumb size piece of cheddar
    1 thin slice of onion

    ................................................

    2 chicken skinless chicken breasts
    2 cups green salad, 3 cherry tomatoes

    .................................................. .

    salmon
    1 cup -stir fry green peppers, courgettes, chilli, corriander, garlic

    .................................................. ...
    LOTS OF WATER - 20 good size glasses a day


    *Does this total 20 carbs?? I know im over here in UK and carb total is worked out differently... but, what im asking is what does the 2 cups salad, plus 1 veg equal too in carbs? then I can know what else I can add - for example mayonaise, boiled egg etc.. for snacks.
    I havent kept track of daily carbs because of this - but i really want to s I know to move up a level I will have to eventually understand my own CCL etc... so wanna get basics spot on first!

    I still want to stay on induction until I have lost another 40lbs, so I have plenty of time to get it right!!

    I think the weight has come off so far cos ive just kept to basics - but I know i will get bored if i dont introduce some other tastes xx

    Hi

    I used a notepad and the carb counts from the back of DANDR when I started, but nowadays I use www.fitday.com where you can set up a (free) account and enter all the food you eat to see the total carbs and fibre carbs.

    As it is a USA website, it includes the fiber in the total carbs but all you have to do is deduct the fiber number to work out the net carbs.

    I use it still after 5 years when planning meals so I can do as you are thinking of and add or deduct food items to get the numbers I want before eating.
