  • is it possible to be in ketosis and have no symptoms?

    Hello all,

I'm new to the forums, however, I've known about the Atkins lifestyle/plan for at least 4 years and my mother is a die-hard Atkins follower. I always cheated while I was on the diet and didn't have the motivation to keep on and just went to a nutritionist instead. I'm at a stage in my life that I'm ready and committed to doing this!

I started the Atkins on July 9th --I started at 210 and now I'm at 201. I'm just so happy.

Well, I bought the Ketostix and the color shows as 80%, but I don't have any of the symptoms of ketosis. I feel just fine, I haven't felt tired and my breath is fine as well. I've noticed that I've been able to curb my cravings so maybe it is working.

I know for a fact I'm not having 20g of carbs, so I should be in ketosis but no symptoms. I'm just curious if it's possible to be in ketosis and not display any symptoms.

I'm just wondering if I'm actually loosing weight because I'm eating less as opposed of just loosing weight because of the Atkins.

I have a date coming up and want to be prepare if this awful breath kicks in. lol

It isn't really awful breath, it is just different. Some people say it tastes metallic. Is your appetite suppressed?

Glad to know it isn't awful but rather a strange metallic taste lol

Yes, I'm still hungry, I've noticed it's usually at night.

I drink and love drinking water so I know it's not that I'm dehydrated.

I'm just used to eating a lot so maybe that's why I feel hungry at night. lol.

However, those crazy cravings such as having for french toasts for lunch are gone or pad thai at night.

How long do you stay away after dinner? How does a typical dinner look for you? Are you sure it's real hunger and not just psychological hunger due to boredom, habit, etc.?
