Question: will Atkins help me lose in the breast area? I'm very large chested. I have an 11 month old, and I thought my breasts would shrink after breastfeeding stopped. I'm still a 36H, and I really want to shrink them. So, will Atkins help me lose in this area?

Oh, and i meant to start a couple of days ago on Atkins, but I didn't get motivated enough to start. I'm 5'6" and 180 lbs. I want to get back down to 130 lbs, which is what I was when I was really in shape (pre-baby). I don't want to lose the weight and still have these huge breasts. I know I'll lose some of the fat from my breasts on ANY diet, but I thought maybe I'd shrink even more on the Atkins method because it seems like it's really good for overall fat loss.

    Anyone?

    Re: Breasts

Why would any woman in their right mind want to lose breast...seriously, you will lose fat from your breast tissue somewhat, but fat distribution is usually genetic. What I've noticed, rather read, about Atkins or low carbohydrate diets in general, is that fat tends to be lost in a uniform manner. I suspect it has to do with hormonal manipulation. On a low carb diet you tend to maximize growth hormone and minimize testosterone aromatization into estrogen esters. Yup, gals also produce testosterone but is very small amounts. Hence working out is not an option. Growth hormone is released pretty much during the first hour of sleep and performing resistance exercises.

But at the same time I'm sure breast tissue size is linked to estrogen receptor sites. I haven't really researched the topic yet. Your best bet is to ask some the moderators about their slant and experience on the issue.

Everyone is different and loses weight differently. All of my measurements changed over time, but I didn't have the issue you describe to begin with. You will lose where you have fat cells. As a suggestion, take your measurements and do the 14 day Induction according to DANDR 2002 and at the end of the 14 days, take your measurements again to see if you are happy.

When you are alone in your head, you are in a bad neighborhood.

I think i was on the right track, there seems to be evidence that estrogen blockers help to reduce breast size. I'm not a medical doctor but google the med Nolvedex.

I was busting out of a 48 DD, I've lost 40lbs and already fit into a 44DD with room to spare...I will be thrilled if I can fit into a C cup when I reach goal (another 100+ lbs). Now if I could just get my derriere to shrink at the same rate...

I am very well-endowed (blessing and curse), and I finally fit properly in my bras thanks to Atkins. I highly suspect you'll notice a difference. Best of luck to you!

Weight loss on Atkins has made my size shrink alot.I used to be 283lbs and size 38dd now a 36b after over a 100lb loss and Im happy I also lost in that area.Hey Norman women do prefer being smaller in that area because we prefer smaller sized bras easier to purchase and other thing clothes fit better from the bust area.I still think it depends on the person not everyone will lose in the same areas.

                  Re: Breasts

Not really a change for me. Maybe (if I hold my breath) can squeeze into a smaller cup size, but if I want the bra to fit properly I'm still pretty much at the same size. The band size definitely went down though.

I lost my stomach and in my fingers/ wrist first or at least that is what I notice first. At this point, I actually have a nice, flat, dare I saw concave stomach, but, wow, do my hips and thighs make up for it. Ugh

same - cup is same but back size is different. I imagine that it would be slightly different for a breast feeding woman, however... If it's not too rude a question - what were they when before pregnancy?

LOL - yeah - stomach definitely took a hit (yay!), and also noticed that my flip-flops come off a lot more often, so suspect some foot fat loss.... odd!
